UIN Jakarta Arabic Language and Literature students represent Indonesia at the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
FAH Online News - Muhammad Badrul Kamal, a student of the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program was also present to represent Indonesia at the Asia Regional Summit Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAMYO) or Non-Aligned Movement Youth Summit (KTT) which took place at the World Trade Center and Hotel Royal Chulan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 24–26 February 2025. The Indonesian delegation at this meeting consisted of representatives of the KNPI DPP, National Youth Council (NYC) of Indonesia, OIC Youth Indonesia and UIN Syarif Hdayatullah Jakarta students. One of the delegates, Muhammad Badrul Kamal, who is also active in various youth organizations and currently serves as chairman of HMPS BSA for the 2024-2025 period, has the opportunity to participate in this international forum to voice the role of Indonesian youth in global diplomacy.
The forum was attended by youth delegates from various countries in the Asia Pacific, including Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Fiji, Yemen, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. This activity began with a Welcoming Dinner at Menara Kuala Lumpur on February 23 2025, where the delegates were hosted by the President of the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM), Mohd Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid. The event was officially opened on February 24 2025 by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia, Adam Adli Abdul Halim, and was also attended by the President of NAMYO, Leyla Hasanova, as well as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and COP29 Lead Negotiator, Yalchin Rafiyev.
In this forum, youth discussed various global issues, including climate change, world peace, and youth empowerment in member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. Public discussions on climate change were guided by Sunway University Professor Emeritus, Tun Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, as well as the President of the Malaysian Carbon Emissions Association (MCMA). In addition, representatives from Fiji and India shared their perspectives with regard to global efforts to meet environmental challenges.
As part of cultural activities, delegates also visited the Malaysian Crafts Museum, tried traditional batik making, enjoyed typical Malaysian culinary delights such as Mee Tarik, and visited the Central Market to see various local products. The event ended with the signing of the Peace Declaration, as a symbol of the commitment of world youth in maintaining peace and international cooperation.
Ananda Badrul Kamal's participation in this forum is proof that Indonesian youth, including from the fields of language and literature, have a strategic role in diplomacy and international relations. “This forum provides broad insight into how youth can contribute to solving global problems and strengthening solidarity between countries,” Badrul said after the event. With this active participation, it is hoped that more and more students from various scientific disciplines can contribute to international forums, bring innovative ideas, and strengthen Indonesia's position in the world youth arena.
