The Inauguration of the FAH Student Organisation Executive Board 2025/2026: "Unyielding, Progressive, and Victorious"
South Tangerang, FAH Online News – The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially inaugurated the student organisation (known in Indonesia as Organisasi Mahasiswa or ORMAWA) for the 2025/2026 period at an event held on Wednesday (28/5/2025) in the Al Insaniah Mosque Theatre Room, FAH. The inauguration included the Student Executive Council (Dewan Mahasiswa or DEMA), the Student Association of the Islamic History and Civilisation Study Programme (Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi Sejarah dan Peradaban Islam or HMPS SPI), and the Student Association of Translation Studies Programme (Himpunan Mahasiswa Program Studi Tarjamah or HMPS Tarjamah), based on Dean's Decree No. 30 of 2025.
The event began solemnly with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Muhammad Hidayat, followed by the singing of the Indonesian national anthem and the UIN Hymn.
The opening remarks were delivered by the Deputy Dean III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Usep Abdul Matin, M.A., who provided historical context for this inauguration. He explained that some HMPS from other programmes had already undergone changes at the beginning of the year. However, for DEMA and the two HMPS under the FAH, the inauguration could only be held now due to waiting for further instructions from the central level.
‘For other HMPS, the transition had already taken place at the beginning of the year. Therefore, today's inauguration marks an important moment to complete the FAH student organisation leadership structure comprehensively,’ he stated.
The next speech was delivered by the Dean of FAH, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M.Hum., CIQnR, who emphasised the importance of this inauguration as a transitional solution amid regulatory gaps due to the absence of national instructions regarding student elections.
‘We cannot be paralysed simply because of limited budgets or delayed regulations. Academic and student activities must continue,’ he stated firmly.
The Dean also revealed the budget challenges currently faced by FAH. Out of a total budget of approximately 4.3 billion rupiah, only 1.2 billion remains, with most of it allocated to pay non-permanent lecturers. Despite this, the faculty encourages student organisations to continue fostering artistic, literary, and cultural activities characteristic of the humanities.
‘We are ready to support, but all facilities must be used maximally and responsibly,’ he added.
After the reading of the Letter of Appointment, the ceremony continued with the handover of positions from the old board to the new board:
- The chairman of DEMA: Muhammad Mulky Alharamain → Firman Almuhtadi
- The chairman of HMPS SPI: Muhammad Ilham Fuzianto → Muhammad Ibnu Chajar
- The chairman of HMPS Tarjamah: Ahmad Soefyan Syabani→ Muhammad Fadhlan Amir
In his speech, the newly elected DEMA Chairman Firman Al Muhtadi emphasised the importance of open leadership that is willing to be criticised, while highlighting the leadership spirit of the Khulafaur Rasyidin.
‘If I am right, follow me. If I am wrong, then remind me,’ he said.
The Chairman of HMPS SPI reminded the importance of maintaining a balance between academics and organisations, while the Chairman of HMPS Tarjamah conveyed a collective commitment:
‘We work together, not just work together. If one is finished, the others help to finish’.
The event closed with a reflective speech from the outgoing DEMA Chairman, Muhammad Mulky Al Haramain, who delivered a gentle evaluation of the campus.
‘As the Roman philosopher said, a ship without a captain who knows the direction will sink. Let us remain steadfast in maintaining the direction of the student organisation FAH journey,’ he said.
Unyielding, Progressive, and Victorious
That was the slogan echoing at the end of the inauguration—becoming a symbol of new spirit for the student organisation (ORMAWA) FAH for the 2025/2026 period in fulfilling their mandate of student leadership.
