The Excitement of HIMLA Goes to School: Learning Arabic Becomes Closer & More Enjoyable!
MAS Islamiyah Ciputat, FAH Online News, Friday, April 24, 2026 – Halaqah Ilmiah Li Muhibbi Al-Lughah Al-‘Arabiyah (HIMLA) once again held an educational activity through its program titled HIMLA Goes to School, which successfully attracted enthusiastic participation from students. This event aimed to introduce the Arabic language in a lighter, more approachable, and friendly way to learners.
The activity began with an introduction to the importance of Arabic in life, both as a key to understanding the Qur’an, Islamic knowledge, and as a global language that opens up educational and career opportunities. In addition, students were encouraged to see that Arabic is not as difficult as commonly perceived.
The main session of the program was an interactive seminar delivered by the speaker, Rifqi Rizqullah, a 6th-semester student of Arabic Language and Literature at UIN Jakarta. In his presentation, he explained that Arabic is an “honest language,” where pronunciation corresponds closely to its written form. He also highlighted that many Arabic words are already familiar in daily life as they have been absorbed into Indonesian, such as ijazah (certificate), sabun (soap), akal (intellect), and wajah (face). He further emphasized that Arabic is actually easier to pronounce compared to some vocabulary in other languages.
Not only limited to the seminar, the atmosphere became more lively with an interactive quiz session that tested students’ understanding in a relaxed manner, followed by ice-breaking activities that increased participants’ enthusiasm and engagement throughout the event.
The results of this activity showed that students gained a new understanding of Arabic as a language that is not only important but also interesting to learn. They also became more confident in starting to recognize and use Arabic in their daily lives.
One participant, Kanza Fayza Nurrahmat, shared her impression after attending the event. She said, “It was very exciting and I gained a lot of knowledge from this event, especially about Arabic. I also realized that Arabic is not as difficult as I thought.”
Through the HIMLA Goes to School program, it is hoped that more students will be interested in learning Arabic and see it as a language that is close to them and beneficial for the future.
