The English Literature Student Association of UIN Jakarta and the English Literature Student Association of UMMI Sukabumi Hold a Comparative Study Themed “From Comparison to Innovation”
South Tangerang, FAH Online News — The English Literature Student Association (HMPS) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta welcomed a comparative study visit from the English Literature Student Association (HIMA) of Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi (UMMI) on Friday (May 8, 2026) at Rooms 102–103, 1st Floor, Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Jakarta. The activity carried the theme “From Comparison to Innovation: Sharing Today, Improving Tomorrow” as a platform for exchanging ideas, organizational experiences, and strengthening relations between English Literature students from both universities.
The event was attended by the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs of FAH UIN Jakarta, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., M.A., Ph.D., Head of the English Literature Study Program Inayatul Chusna, M.Hum., the board members of HMPS English Literature UIN Jakarta, and delegates from HIMA English Literature UMMI Sukabumi.
The series of activities began with welcoming participants and a campus tour of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, followed by a formal session consisting of opening remarks, presentations of work programs, and a Focus Group Discussion (FGD).
In his remarks, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin stated that all guests present were part of the greater academic family who brought blessings to the faculty. He also explained the development of the English Literature Study Program at UIN Jakarta, including its achievement in obtaining international accreditation from ACQUIN Germany, which is currently awaiting official certification results.
According to him, the international accreditation process evaluates various aspects, including learning activities, research, community service, international cooperation, and tracer studies. He mentioned that the tracer study achievement of the English Literature Program at UIN Jakarta had reached 91.98 percent.
“Joining the English Literature Program opens the door to the international world. When you become part of the English Literature Student Association, it is like unlocking opportunities for international experiences — perhaps someday to America, Europe, or the Middle East,” he said.
He also explained several international collaborations that had been established, including cooperation with the Indian Embassy and plans for organizing an International Conference on Digital Humanities. Prof. Usep also invited UMMI Sukabumi students to participate in international activities organized by the English Literature Study Program of UIN Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the Head of the English Literature Study Program, Inayatul Chusna, M.Hum., expressed her hope that the comparative study activity would expand relationships and build broader networks among student associations.
“Hopefully, through this visit, everyone can build relationships, share experiences, and open wider horizons for future collaboration,” she stated.
The chief organizer of the comparative study from HMPS English Literature UIN Jakarta, Nadifha Salsabila Rovirqilia, said that the activity was not merely an organizational agenda, but also an opportunity to get to know one another, exchange experiences, and build good relations between student associations.
Similarly, the chief organizer from HIMA English Literature UMMI Sukabumi, Shakilla Febriliantina, stated that the comparative study was an effort to broaden organizational insights and explore references for work programs that could be implemented within their association.
The Chairperson of HMPS English Literature UIN Jakarta, Anya Cahya Kirani, added that every organization has different experiences and ways of developing, making it important to learn from and share best practices with one another.
Meanwhile, the President of HIMA English Literature UMMI Sukabumi, Wanda Maha Putri, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from HMPS English Literature UIN Jakarta. She hoped that the friendship and cooperation established through this activity would continue in the future.
The activity continued with presentations of each organization’s work programs and an active, interactive Focus Group Discussion (FGD) session. Through this comparative study activity, both student associations are expected to strengthen collaboration, broaden organizational perspectives, and build sustainable institutional relationships.
