Strengthening Audiovisual Branding, FAH Holds an Exclusive Videography Workshop

CIPUTAT, UIN Online News – In an effort to strengthen the institution’s image and visual identity, CreatiFAH, the Autonomous Student Organization of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, successfully organized a videography and editing workshop. Titled “Aesthetic Authority: Sculpting Campus Narratives in Motion and Editing,” the exclusive training session was held on Friday (June 5, 2026) at SKOEE Coffee, Ciputat.

The event was initiated to combine the aesthetic elements of videography with modern editing techniques. Its primary objective was to create strong, distinctive, and character-driven broadcasting and branding media that would become a hallmark of FAH’s video content.

To provide an in-depth exploration of the subject matter, FAH invited Surya Ananta Wijaya Kusuma, a Videographer and Editor at CreatiFAH. Before the attending members of the CreatiFAH videography team, Surya shared his knowledge and experience regarding video production management and fundamental editing techniques.

“Videography is a way of constructing narratives and shaping public perceptions of the university,” Surya stated during his presentation.

The workshop focused not only on technical aspects such as camera operation and editing software but also emphasized the concept of aesthetic authority. Participants were encouraged to understand how campus narratives can be crafted into compelling audiovisual works that effectively communicate meaningful stories to audiences.

In addition, Surya shared insights from his journey in the digital creative industry, revealing that he had the opportunity to learn directly from one of Indonesia’s renowned YouTube content creators, Agung Hapsah. According to him, this learning experience significantly influenced his visual style and the professional standards he applies in content production today.

Surya also introduced an efficient editing workflow designed to produce polished videos within a relatively short timeframe. The workflow consists of six main stages:

  1. Music – Selecting and incorporating the primary audio track as the foundation of the video’s rhythm.
  2. Video – Arranging and trimming visual clips to align with the music’s beats and pacing.
  3. Transitions – Creating smooth and seamless transitions between clips.
  4. Text – Adding titles, captions, or subtitles to enhance clarity and communication.
  5. SFX (Sound Effects) – Incorporating supporting sound effects to enrich the atmosphere and transitions.
  6. Color Grading/Filters – Applying color correction and visual filters as the final touch to strengthen the video’s aesthetic appeal.

During his presentation, Surya also encouraged his team to explore opportunities as video clippers—content creators who produce short-form video highlights. He emphasized that the role of a clipper is just as important as that of the original content creator, as strategically extracting the most engaging moments from long-form videos has proven effective in increasing viewership.

“From what I have learned, there are thousands of clippers out there who create content from well-known creators every day. They take content from various platforms—on YouTube, for example, there is Windah Basudara, and on Kick, Reza Auditore—and transform it into short-form content. We can start by creating clips from the podcasts available on FAH UIN Jakarta’s YouTube channel,” he explained.

This weekly activity marked the second installment of the CreatiFAH Academy program, which plans to host a total of 12 workshops throughout the year. Through this initiative, participating FAH students are expected to become key drivers in producing creative and educational content while simultaneously strengthening the faculty’s digital branding and presence.
