Story of a Student of FAH UIN Jakarta Serving in the International KKN BKS-PTN
Online Article FAH UIN Jakarta - A 7th Semester History and Islamic Civilization student, Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Jakarta, was selected as one of the KKN UIN Jakarta contingents in the KKN BKS Barat. Maulida Fitria, who is familiarly called Pipit, successfully passed the selection to participate in the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program with the State University Cooperation Agency of Western Indonesia (BKS-PTN Barat) to serve in North Sumatra. She also managed to achieve an achievement as The Second Winner Most Active Participant in the KKN BKS-PTN Barat activity. This international KKN involved 192 participants from 32 universities in eight countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, and Yemen. Pipit underwent KKN for 30 days, starting from August 5 - September 5, 2024. Meanwhile, the closing event was held on September 5, 2024 in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra.
The KKN participants, especially Pipit, were consistent in completing pre-KKN assignments through the Smart Class of the University of North Sumatra (USU). This is one of the benchmarks in assessing their activeness during the KKN program. KKN BKS-PTN Barat participants were asked to access and complete the modules as part of the preparation for KKN activities.
Pipit is known to be very active in accessing USU's Smart Class and completing the modules provided. The assessment of participant activeness is based on how often they work on the modules provided since June - July 2024. Pipit not only brings a good name to UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, but also shows the importance of collaboration and active participation in international activities. This achievement proves the quality of UIN Jakarta students in contributing to society.
KKN BKS-PTN Barat has different characteristics from other types of KKN, both in terms of selection and implementation. In a short interview, Pipit revealed the selection process she went through to join the KKN program: “The process to pass this program was quite difficult. During the selection interview, I branded that in the SPI (History of Islamic Civilization) department I studied Dutch in semesters 3 & 4, Arabic in semesters 1 & 2, and English in semester 1. I think this is very important, because language skills are highly considered in this selection. In addition, as a FAH student who is rarely seen by students from other faculties, I also tried to brand my faculty as a faculty of cultural sciences that is full of humanities and history, that actually my department and faculty are very interesting,” she said. The BKS-PTN Barat KKN program is expected to provide valuable experience for students, both in terms of academics and non-academically. Through this program, the university can strengthen international cooperation in the field of education and broaden participants' insights into culture and global challenges in various countries.
