South Tangerang, FAH Online News – The Center for Archival Studies (PUSAKA), an autonomous organization under the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, organized the PUSAKA Tour by visiting the Information Management and Digital Transformation Institute (LMITD) and the IPB University Museum on Monday (July 13, 2026). Carrying the theme "Exploring Professional Archive Management Systems and Museums at IPB University," the program aimed to broaden students' understanding of professional archival and museum management practices within a higher education institution.

The activity was attended by PUSAKA members and students from various academic backgrounds who share an interest in archival studies. In addition to serving as an experiential learning opportunity outside the classroom, the visit was also intended to strengthen institutional relations between the Faculty of Adab and Humanities of UIN Jakarta and the Archives and Museum of IPB University.

In her welcoming remarks at the IPB Archive meeting room, Diva Nazva Savitri, President of PUSAKA, expressed her appreciation to the LMITD of IPB University for warmly receiving the delegation. She hoped that the visit would provide meaningful learning experiences, particularly for first-year students, enabling them to become familiar with the fields of archives and museums from an early stage while encouraging their interest in pursuing these disciplines further.

During the presentation session, Farhah Faridah, S.E., M.M., Supervisor of Archive Management at LMITD IPB University, explained the development of the university's archival management system. She outlined the evolution of archival practices over time, leading to the establishment of the Higher Education Archival Institution (Lembaga Kearsipan Perguruan Tinggi/LKPT), which is integrated with the university library and museum. The presentation was followed by an interactive discussion on archival management practices, challenges encountered, and various innovations implemented to preserve and maintain institutional records.

One of the most anticipated sessions of the program was the archival tour. Guided by the IPB University Archives team, participants visited several archival facilities, including the static archives repository, the archive digitization laboratory, and the cartographic archives storage room. Through this guided tour, participants gained first-hand insight into professional archival management processes, ranging from records storage and preservation to digitization.

In the afternoon, the delegation continued the program with a visit to the IPB University Museum. The participants first watched a brief institutional profile video introducing IPB University before joining a guided museum tour that showcased collections illustrating the university's history, development, and contributions to education, research, and community service.

Through the PUSAKA Tour, students gained not only theoretical knowledge of archival science but also valuable hands-on learning experiences at an institution recognized for implementing a professional archival management system. The experience is expected to enrich students' perspectives, enhance their competencies, and foster greater awareness of the importance of archives as sources of information, institutional memory, and cultural heritage with strategic value for both present and future generations.
