PUSAKA FAH UIN Jakarta Holds Discussion to Discovering the Basics of Personal Archives
South Tangerang, FAH News Online – LO Center for Archival Studies (PUSAKA) Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a discussion event entitled "DISKUSIP" (Archive Discussion) with the theme “Archival Basics (Personal Record)” on Friday, November 1 2024. This event took place in classroom 1.01 of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities from 16.30 to 17.30 WIB and presented Egi Almaroghi, S.IP, an archives practitioner and alumnus of Library Science at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, as the main resource person.
DISKUSIP is part of a series of routine activities organized by PUSAKA, the organization that oversees students at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, with the aim of increasing knowledge and skills in the field of archives. The event was opened by the Master of Ceremony, Dini Safitri, followed by remarks from Radifan Gilang Ramadhan as Deputy Chair of PUSAKA. The discussion was then hosted by Haidar Azhar Al Kautsar as moderator.
In his presentation, Egi Almaroghi, S.IP, who currently works as an Archives Officer at the Indonesian Financial Group (IFG) Archives Department, explained the basics of archives which focus on managing personal records. According to Egi, archives or records include various types of documents or data created with the aim of becoming a source of knowledge. This archive is very important because it can provide useful information in making wise decisions.
Egi also explains the archiving cycle (record lifecycle) which consists of several stages, starting from creation, maintenance, to destruction of archives. In addition, the legal and ethical aspects of records management are the main highlights, especially in maintaining compliance with regulations, privacy, confidentiality, and access and control rights. An important point in this session was the explanation of Law No. 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (UU PDP), which is the legal umbrella regarding the management and protection of personal data in Indonesia.
In this event, Egi emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and trust in the management of archives, especially archives that are private. He reminded participants to understand and apply the basic principles in managing personal archives so that stored data remains safe and confidential. It is hoped that this interactive and informative discussion will increase the awareness of PUSAKA members in the field of archives and increase their skills to implement good archiving standards.
The DISKUSIP event closed with a warm question and answer session, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions to sources. Participants' enthusiasm for questioning and discussion reflected a keen interest in the field of archives and a concern for the proper management of records.
With an event like this, PUSAKA hopes that its members can better understand the importance of proper management of personal records, in accordance with modern archival principles, so that they can utilize these skills in the professional world later.
