Harun Nasution Auditorium, FAH News Online — The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has once again recorded an academic achievement with the inauguration of Prof. Dr. Zubair, M.Ag. as Professor in Islamic Legal Linguistics. The inauguration took place during the Open Senate Session for the Inauguration of Professors at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

Prof. Dr. Zubair, M.Ag. is a lecturer in the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program and the Master’s Program in Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. Previously, he had been appointed Professor in Islamic Legal Linguistics based on the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 040860/MA/KP.07.6/05/2026. This appointment adds to the number of professors at UIN Jakarta while further strengthening FAH’s academic expertise in language, linguistics, and Islamic law.

The inauguration ceremony was part of an Open Senate Session attended by 13 professors from various academic disciplines. The session was opened by the Chair of the University Senate, Prof. Dr. Andi Faisal Bakti, M.A., while the inauguration ceremony was led by the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D. The inauguration proceedings included the presentation of the official decree and the ceremonial wearing of the professor’s sash.

As part of the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Dr. Zubair delivered a scientific oration entitled “Axiolinguistics of Islamic Legal Hermeneutics.” The idea stems from the issue of the relationship between the limited textual formulations of revelation and the continuously evolving realities of human life. Through this approach, Prof. Zubair proposes a way of interpreting Islamic legal texts by bringing together linguistic analysis, the values of Maqashid al-Shariah, and the context of life, which continues to undergo change.

The Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum., CIQnR, expressed his appreciation for the inauguration of Prof. Dr. Zubair as Professor. According to him, the achievement represents an important milestone in strengthening FAH’s academic human resources while increasing the contribution of professors to the advancement of knowledge.

“On behalf of the leadership of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, we extend our congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Dr. Zubair, M.Ag. on his inauguration as Professor in Islamic Legal Linguistics. May this academic responsibility further strengthen his contribution to the advancement of scholarship, research, publications, and academic development within FAH,” said the Dean.

The inauguration of Prof. Dr. Zubair marks an important moment for FAH UIN Jakarta in strengthening its academic tradition and the development of humanities-based scholarship. The presence of a professor specializing in Islamic Legal Linguistics is expected to expand opportunities for interdisciplinary research and encourage the development of studies that bring together the richness of Islamic intellectual heritage with advances in knowledge and the dynamics of society.

With this inauguration, FAH UIN Jakarta continues to strengthen its academic capacity through improvements in human resource quality, research development, scholarly publications, and academic contributions at both national and international levels.
