Perception Alignment Seminar on Qur’an Reading: LO Dauroh Qur’ani of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Jakarta, Strengthens Peer Tutor Development.
South Tangerang, FAH Online News – The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in collaboration with the Autonomous Organization (LO) Dauroh Qur’ani of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, held a Perception Alignment Seminar on Qur’an Reading (BQ) for Peer Mentors on Friday, October 30, 2026. The event took place in the Theater Room on the fifth floor of the FAH Building, UIN Jakarta, under the theme “Harmonizing Qur’an Reading Instruction: Aligning Perspectives and Strengthening Qur’anic Literacy.”
The seminar aimed to establish a shared understanding among peer mentors in assisting students participating in the Dauroh Qur’ani (DQ) program, particularly in improving their Qur’an reading and writing skills. The event featured the Dean of FAH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum., and Ust. Muhamad Arif Wicaksono, S.E., as speakers. It was also attended by the Dauroh Qur’ani program advisors, Dr. Nurul Aini, M.Pd., and Sukasih Nur, S.Sos.I., M.I.Kom.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FAH, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum., emphasized that reading the Qur’an is both an obligation and an essential aspect of making the Qur’an a guide for life. He also noted that FAH students come from diverse educational backgrounds, meaning that not all of them have had the opportunity to receive Qur’anic education at Islamic schools (madrasahs).
Therefore, the Dauroh Qur’ani program serves as one of the faculty’s initiatives to provide practical instruction in Qur’an reading and writing. Through peer tutoring, the program is expected to assist students who have not yet developed fluency in reading the Qur’an by providing appropriate and continuous guidance.
The Dean further explained that students who participate as mentors in this program can gain valuable experience that may be documented in the Diploma Supplement (Surat Keterangan Pendamping Ijazah/SKPI), as a form of recognition for their mentoring activities and competency development.
Meanwhile, Nurul Aini, an advisor to LO Dauroh Qur’ani, explained that the mentoring program officially began accepting participants in September 2026. The program is designed to help students successfully complete the DQ program through structured and targeted guidance. The mentoring activities are scheduled to begin on the first day of the designated period, following a ratio of one mentor for every five students (1:5).
Nurul Aini also highlighted that the mentoring process would involve regular mentoring sessions and periodic evaluations. This approach is intended to ensure that students’ progress in Qur’an reading can be monitored and continuously improved.
During the presentation, the speakers discussed the concepts of tahsin (improving the quality of Qur’an recitation) and tajwid (the rules governing proper Qur’anic pronunciation), as well as practical mentoring methods for Qur’an reading, with particular attention to the correct articulation of Arabic letters (makharij al-huruf). The mentors were equipped with an understanding of the importance of providing proper guidance while creating a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment.
The speakers emphasized that mentoring must be conducted consistently. Since both mentors and participants are fellow university students, the approach should be informal, relaxed, and non-authoritarian. Mentoring sessions can involve simple activities, such as reading the Qur’an together while enjoying snacks, to foster a friendly atmosphere and help students feel comfortable learning and improving their recitation.
Through this seminar, LO Dauroh Qur’ani FAH UIN Jakarta hopes that peer mentors will develop a common understanding and consistent mentoring methods, enabling them to provide effective guidance and strengthen the culture of Qur’anic literacy within the faculty.
