South Tangerang, FAH Online News — The Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, successfully held the 2026 Academic and Student Culture Orientation Program (PBAK) on August 29 and 31. The event was attended by more than 160 new students, along with faculty leaders, the Head and Secretary of the Study Program, faculty members serving as speakers, and the organizing committee, marking the conclusion of the 2026 PBAK series at UIN Jakarta.

In his remarks, Chair of the JIPERS PBAK 2026 Organizing Committee, Irfan Hakim Ramadhan, welcomed the new students and expressed appreciation for their efforts and achievements in gaining admission to the Library and Information Science Study Program. He also encouraged them to remain enthusiastic throughout their university studies, actively participate in student organizations, and be prepared to face the various challenges of university life.

The Secretary of the Library and Information Science Study Program, Hikmah Irfaniah, emphasized that the primary purpose of pursuing higher education is to acquire knowledge, both inside and outside the classroom through student organizations, committees, internships, and collaborative projects with senior students and alumni. She concluded her remarks by encouraging students to set clear goals, work diligently, actively seek opportunities to gain experience, and maintain a balance between academic responsibilities and other activities.

“New students are encouraged to actively participate in organizations, campus activities, and competitions, as these experiences contribute to their achievements and the development of their skills,” said Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., M.A., M.A., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation. In his remarks, he also introduced opportunities for International Student Mobility and encouraged students to begin reading extensively, gathering research materials, and preparing academic articles related to the field of Library and Information Science.

In addition to introducing students to the campus environment and culture, the JIPERS PBAK 2026 series featured various sessions, including a presentation entitled “Navigating Information and Knowledge: Libraries, Archives, and Museums,” delivered by Fadhilatul Hamdani, M.Hum., a lecturer at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities.

In her presentation, the speaker began by challenging longstanding stereotypes surrounding the fields of Library, Archives, and Museums—covering librarianship, archival studies, and museology. These fields are often perceived merely as being concerned with arranging books and dusty documents. In reality, they play an increasingly important role as the forefront of data governance, drivers of the creative industries, and managers of digital information assets.

With the conclusion of the JIPERS PBAK 2026 series, the new students of the 2026 cohort of the Library and Information Science Study Program are expected to carry forward the enthusiasm, motivation, and knowledge gained throughout the program as they embark on their academic journey. The event also marked the beginning of their academic experience as members of the JIPERS community and the wider family of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
