Jakarta, FAH Online — After winning 1st place in the bass sound category in the Gita Bahana Nusantara (GBN) event at the South Tangerang City level, Ahmad Miqdar Haqiqi, Library Science student class of 2022, has made another proud achievement. He was declared to have passed the selection at Banten Province level and will be his regional representative in the National Choir at the State Palace on Independence Day 17 August 2025.

“Thank God I am very happy, because this has been my dream since pursuing the world of singing. Moreover, I can be proud of my family, friends and everyone who has supported me,” said Miqdar with gratitude.

The provincial selection process is not easy. Miqdar had to compete with seven other participants in the bass voice category, all of whom were the best representatives from each city/district in Banten. He even became the first participant to appear in the audition, adding to the tension during the performance.

“The selection atmosphere was very tense, because all the participants had extraordinary abilities. But thank God I got through it,” he said.

Now, Miqdar is preparing for the next stage: appearing before high-ranking state officials in an August 17 ceremony at the State Palace. Preparations include improving physicality, musicality, as well as deepening insight into the culture and history of Banten Province, as part of his representation as a regional ambassador.

Approaching the big day, Miqdar will undergo a national quarantine period starting in early August with representatives from all provinces in Indonesia. There, they will take part in debriefings, intensive training, and introduction of mandatory songs that will be performed in state ceremonies later.

“Hopefully I can perform optimally and make everyone who has supported me proud," he concluded.

Miqdar's story shows that even non-academic pathways can be a space for brilliant achievement. He proved that with determination and practice, the national stage was not just a dream.
