On a quiet morning, sad news came to thrill the hearts of the academic community at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Dr. Parlindungan Siregar, MA, a lecturer who has been a lantern in the study of the History of Islamic Civilization, passed away to the bosom of God on Saturday, January 4 2025. In the emotional silence, memories of him began to flash.  

Parlindungan Siregar is not just a lecturer. He is the keeper of stories, the engraver of history, and a reminder that civilization always lives in a heart full of knowledge. In every step he took on campus, he carried an aura of wisdom. His smile was calm, his advice flowed like a river that soothed the soul.  

In the classroom, he is not only a teacher, but a storyteller. He takes his students through the passage of time, bringing them together with a lost civilization that lives on through his words. He brought to life the great figures of Islam, showing how their journey was to build a better world.  

However, behind every step and word, there is a greater example. Simplicity is the cloak, while hard work is the stick that supports every step. In all his achievements, he never forgot to inspire the younger generation to always uphold the values of civilization and humanity.  

Now, his figure may have gone, but his traces are eternal. He left an invaluable legacy: an enlightened generation, thoughts that will continue to resonate, and a passion for exploring history for a better future.  

We all believe that the light he brought is now one with eternity. May his deeds of worship be accepted by Allah SWT, and the family left behind will be given strength and fortitude. Goodbye, Dr. Parlindungan Siregar, the guardian of civilization.
