Organization Leadership Training: Administration and Finance Through the HMPS SPI Work Program
South Tangerang, FAH Online News – The Student Association of the Islamic History and Civilization Study Program (HMPS SPI), Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, once again organized an Organization Leadership Training as a continuation of the previous session. Carrying the theme “Organizational Administration and Finance,” the activity was held on Saturday (June 6, 2026) at Al-Insaniyat Mosque, FAH, with the aim of strengthening students’ understanding of effective and professional organizational governance.
This activity, which is part of the HMPS SPI work program, was attended by HMPS SPI Chairperson Thoriq Aziz Dawasla, Vice Chairperson Muhammad Irfan Fadillah, members of the Executive Board (BPH), HMPS SPI members, and students of the Islamic History and Civilization Study Program.
In this follow-up session, the discussion focused on the importance of managing administration and finance within an organization. The speaker, Muhammad Iqbal Akmaludin, Lc., S.Hum., explained that administration serves as a crucial foundation for maintaining an orderly, well-directed, and sustainable organization.
According to him, a secretary plays a strategic role as the organization's administrative manager, responsible for overseeing various secretarial functions, ranging from correspondence management to the documentation of important organizational records.
“In an organization, the secretary fundamentally serves as the manager of organizational administration. Although the chairperson is the primary decision-maker, it is the secretary who manages when letters should be issued or received and ensures that important organizational data are properly documented,” he explained.
He also emphasized the importance of accuracy in drafting official letters. According to him, official correspondence is often the first representation seen by external parties when interacting with an organization.
“When an organization conducts an activity, the first thing people usually notice is its official letter. The letterhead serves as the identity of both the organization and the activity. Even the smallest mistake in writing or formatting can affect the organization’s image in the eyes of others,” he stated.
Furthermore, Muhammad Iqbal Akmaludin explained that administrative aspects are closely linked to organizational financial management, particularly in the process of seeking funding through proposals submitted to government institutions and private companies.
“When submitting proposals to government agencies or companies, the first thing they examine is the completeness and quality of the administration. Therefore, every proposal must be prepared professionally and free from errors. This can only be achieved when the secretary consistently performs their role as the organization’s administrative manager,” he added.
To deepen participants’ understanding, the committee also organized an interactive question-and-answer session. Through this session, participants were given the opportunity to discuss directly with the speaker various administrative and financial issues commonly encountered in student organizations.
As a closing activity, the committee once again held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), similar to the previous session. During this session, participants were encouraged to apply the material they had learned through group discussions and simulations of organizational case studies.
Through this activity, HMPS SPI hopes that participants will gain new insights into the importance of organizational administration and financial management. This knowledge is expected to become valuable capital for students in managing organizations professionally and preparing themselves for the professional world and future career development.
