FAH Theater, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) Debriefing and SKPI Workshop with the theme “Becoming a Multitalented Historian who is global” held by the Islamic History and Civilization Study Program (SPI) Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. In his opening remarks, Vice Dean 3 Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, M.A., M.A., Ph. D said that all of us here are historians, the name history is emphasized from the beginning, don't be a nonstalgian, don't be an inferior person, get out of your comfort zone, politics without history is difficult. Being a history student is not for nonstalgia but for progress, the suggestion from Vice Rector 3 before the graduation of SPI students has found a job, Vice Rector 3 conveyed to Vice Rector 3 that students can and must fill out a tracer study, with MBKM you are considered working and you can immediately fill out a graduate user satisfaction survey, such activities have been followed by other faculties, after alumni you can work from the experience gained from MBKM activities and can also be entrepreneurs or continue your studies. MBKM is a preparation for students who are ready to work, for this semester students are targeted to graduate on time, it is an important part to meet the requirements so that they can be absorbed in the world of work, socialize with outsiders to make it easier to get a network with work.

The debriefing delivered by Dr. Zakiyah Darojat, M.A (Head of SPI Study Program) explained that students who carry out MBKM later must be able to maintain ethics, not to be late at work or lax in carrying out MBKM activities, do something without having to be told and reminded, because it will affect the assessment). Every student who does MBKM has a supervisor, there is a coordinator and a group is made, this supervisor is to make it easier and to receive information, the supervisor will provide an assessment of this MBKM activity, this MBKM duration will be equal to lecture time (1 semester), maintain ethics, make activity reports, write daily MBKM activity reports, Field supervisors and MBKM supervisors will have their respective assessment books, every day they must fill in the book of report grades, the final task of MBKM is to make a final report with a video of activities during MBKM (video made max 5 min), one of the faculty assessments to increase accreditation is students who are immediately accepted in the world of work and graduate on time.

In this MBKM briefing, an SKPI Workshop was also held with Moderator Nurul Azizah, M. Hum (Secretary of SPI Study Program) with speakers Safurotun Ziah, S. Hum and Ilham Edlian, S. Hum. On the first occasion, Ilham Edlian as an SPI Alumni opened by sharing his experiences as a student and after graduating from college. Ilham also said that as a SPI graduate, you must be confident, don't be inferior, as a graduate of the SPI study program you can work anywhere with the talents you have. Talent is overrated by Geoff Colvin, namely: talent id with enough, the role of environment, regular practice vs deliberate practice. The talent that is owned in us can be done with continuous practice and we must also have a mentor in training the talents we have, so that it can be a motivation and there can be someone to direct it.

While on the occasion of the second speaker Safurotun Ziah said that SPI graduates are able to become anything according to their talents and skills, whether they want to become practitioners or academics. Students must be able to make choices, do self-mapping with their talents and must dare to dream, because the dreams we have can come true someday. On another occasion Ziah conveyed tips and tricks to get a scholarship, before getting a scholarship the things that need to be prepared are Intention, Language, Personal Statement, Essay and Campus Research. In the closing statement Ziah said “It's never too late, because knowledge is what makes you safe”.
