MBSA Camp Thesis Presents UKM Adjunct Professor: Encourage Students to Accelerate Thesis Completion
South Tangerang, FAH News Online — Master of Arabic Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the MBSA Thesis Camp activity which this time also presented Prof. Intermediate Dr. Ahmad Sunawari Long, Adjunct Professor from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) 12/04/2025. This activity is a strategic academic mentoring space for Master of Arabic Language and Literature (MBSA) students to speed up thesis completion.
The activity was opened by Solikhatus Sa'diyah, M.Hum., as Secretary of the Study Program, who expressed his appreciation to all participants and emphasized the importance of time management and research consistency. “This Thesis Camp is designed to help students find the right research rhythm and speed up the thesis completion process. We hope that with the presence of Adjunct Professor Prof. "Sunawari can motivate and really be used as productive momentum," he said
In a separate place, the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum., also said that the presence of Prof. Sunawari is a valuable opportunity for the academic community to absorb knowledge, broaden their horizons, and utilize it for faculty development in a more advanced direction.
He added that this academic collaboration with the Adjunct Professor not only provides scientific enrichment for students, but also opens up a wider space for international cooperation, especially in strengthening research, improving the quality of scientific publications, and developing a global-based curriculum.
In line with these directives, in the accompanying session Prof. Sunawari invites students to be more structured in carrying out research by compiling achievement tables as a tool to monitor research objectives and periodic achievements. He emphasized the importance of setting a target of at least four academic activities every month—, both data analysis and writing—, so that students can more easily prepare a future plan while estimating the time for completing the thesis realistically and measurably.
This activity also highlights the importance of clarifying the limits of the research problem so that the study remains focused. Students are advised to create a timeline or use a Gantt Chart to map research progress in a structured manner. The resource person added that each student has a different capacity and rhythm, so the research strategy needs to be adjusted. Two evaluation lines—our expectation and real achievement—emphasized to help students assess the gap between plan and realization.
The next session discussed the use of Scopus AI as an important tool in literature review. This tool is considered very helpful for master's and doctoral students because it provides deep data from Scopus indexed articles to strengthen the theoretical basis. It is believed that being able to effectively trace the literature will improve the quality and timeliness of thesis completion.
On this occasion, Prof. Ahmad Sunawari Long provides academic motivation for MBSA students. He emphasized the importance of consistency in writing. “The thesis will not be completed if it is only planned. Start writing today, even if it's just one paragraph. Small consistency every day is the key to graduating on time,” said giving encouragement to the participants.
The activities of the Camp MBSA Thesis close with the affirmation that discipline, careful planning and utilization of academic technology are important elements in completing the thesis. Students are expected to continue to maintain productivity and research commitment until completion. (Nurul Aini)
