Making Dreams Come True: Two Alumni of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Win LPDP Scholarships to Leading University in England
FAH Online News, South Tangerang – Two alumni from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, majoring in Islamic History and Civilization (SPI), succeeded in winning a prestigious scholarship from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) to continue their master's studies abroad. They are Alfida Marifatullah, S.Hum and Safrotun Ziah, S.Hum.
Alfida Marifatullah was accepted at the University of Sheffield (Inggirs) majoring in Cultural Heritage Management, while Safrotun Ziah continued her studies at the University of Sussex (England) with the Geopolitics and International Affairs program.
In her interview, Alfida shared her impressions during her time as a student at FAH. "I feel proud because my dream came true to be able to study abroad. "Starting from studying in the SPI department, I felt that the lecturers at FAH were very qualified and had broad exposure both at home and abroad," he said. He also added that his motivation to continue his studies abroad grew from the support of lecturers.
Alfida provides several tips for getting an LPDP scholarship, which is known to be very competitive. "Preparing English is the main thing. "To continue your studies abroad, prepare for the IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.5," he explained. He also encouraged FAH students who were still in college to start preparing for IELTS as early as possible, so they could immediately apply for the LPDP scholarship when they graduated. Apart from that, Alfida emphasizes the importance of activities outside academics, such as organizations or volunteer activities, as provisions for success.
Alfida's motivational message is: "Dream it, do it, and never lose for it." He hopes that this spirit can continue to inspire other FAH students.
Safrotun Ziah also expressed her pride in being part of the FAH. "I am very proud because FAH has a supportive environment, with lecturers who always provide constructive criticism and suggestions," he said. Ziah was inspired by extraordinary lecturers such as the late Prof. Azzumardi Azra, Dr. Fuad Jabali, and Prof. Usep Abdul Matin.
Ziah, who is known to be active on campus and off campus, explained that obtaining a scholarship is a challenge in itself. He shared tips for success: "The first is intention, because when we have intention, all obstacles can definitely be overcome. Second, be confident and confident that we can win scholarships, supported by prayers and recommendations from experienced people."
He also invited FAH students not to feel inferior about the History department. "In Geopolitics studies, they saw my transcript from the SPI major, and that was one of the reasons I was accepted. "Do research and study harder," he advised.
Ziah's last message to FAH students was: "Be the best version of yourself. Don't compare yourself with other people, because everyone has their own path. Just do it!"
With the achievements of these two alumni, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has again demonstrated its commitment to producing quality graduates who are ready to compete on the global stage.
