South Jakarta, FAH News Online - On Saturday 28th of June 2025, seven of Library Science student major done a knowledge sharing session about preserving books with the activity name “Ayo Jaga dan Rawat Bukumu” with the kids and teenager of Rumah Penyuluhan Kreatif which is located at Pondok Labu, Jakarta.

This activity was attended by 19 children and teenagers who are part of “Rumah Penyuluhan Kreatif”, consisting of various ages, ranging from elementary school to junior high school. The purpose of this activity is to grow a sense of responsibility and discipline in order to maintain and care for books as a source of knowledge, increase understanding of the importance of information contained in a well-maintained book, and implant a love of books through literacy activities carried out from an early age.

This event was opened by Aulia Fakhrunnisa as The Master of Ceremony, who first introduced herself to the participants, followed by an initial comprehension test in the form of a casual question and answer session. The participants answered several questions posed by the MC with great enthusiasm.

And as the head of the event organizer, Septi Adelia Putri, who gave a short speech about the importance of taking care of our books, because books are the source of knowledge.

“Books not only need to be read but also taken care of and looked after, and one of the methods to do so is to cover them with plastic wrap.” She said.

During the presentation session, Aisyah Faradhiya explained what books are, how to take care of them, and why we should preserve them. She mentions that books are a valuable source of knowledge, and damaged books are difficult to read and use. Taking care of books reflects a sense of responsibility and concern for one’s personal belongings.

The second material was presented by Loetfy Adyaksa Sabara about how to take care of our books, which can be done with placing them on a dry spot, not putting it directly underneath the sunlight, not eating and drinking near them, and most importantly is to cover them with a plastic wrap so it wont caught dirt and dust. With those steps, it will be well taken care of and kept away from problems that may be damaging to books such as mold, fadings, fragile papers, and much more.

After the presentations were completed, The activity continued with an interactive session in the form of mini games led by Aisyah and Loetfy. The purpose of this activity was to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, as well as to assess the participants' understanding of the material that had been presented earlier.

The session is led by the MC with excitement and enthusiasm. The game that was played in this session was meant to increase concentration and refocusing the participant, the game session was filled with cheerfulness and laughter also we were able to include all the participants and made them engage actively.

Then, the participants were divided into groups of five for the book covering practice session. The division was carried out with Aisyah and Allessa. Next was the book covering practice session guided by Allessa Zeykha Arafa. Participants who were already in groups received guidance and direction from the students to help participants who were still having difficulties.

During the practical session, some participants have some difficulty and troubled doing the book covering as it was their first time doing it while some others look good at doing them. This is where we, the students, comes in and guide them as well as helping them done it so they could do the book covering with ease and covered them well.

After ensure that all participants had finished covering the books, the college student supervising each group conducted an assessment. This was done to measure the success indicator set by the college student in this activity.

After all the series of the main events are finished, the event continued with snack sharing session to the participants as an appreciation of an active participation. On the same time, they were led to did a satisfactory survey by placing a sticker to a survey board that worked as a evaluation tool for our next event. This survey aims to calculate participant satisfactory about the event they participate in.

The event was closed by the MC with words of gratitude to the participants. Then there was a group photo session led by the MC. At the end of the event, Septi, as the head of the event organizer, presented a certificate to Mrs. Wita Sumanti as the coordinator of Rumah Penyuluhan Kreatif. She expressed her gratitude and hope for continued cooperation and success in future events.
