HMPS SPI Holds Nusantara Heritage Festival 2025: Timeless Heritage, Culture Continues to Be Glorious

South Tangerang, FAH News Online – The Study Program Student Association (HMPS) for Islamic History and Civilization (SPI) Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held the 2025 Nusantara Heritage Festival as the culmination of a series of student cultural activities. The closing event took place lively on Saturday, 18/10/2025, at the Aswaja Building, East Ciputat, South Tangerang City.

This festival is one of a series of festivals that started with a competition with the theme “Timeless Heritage, Culture Continues to Glory” which has been held from 29 September to 17 October 2025, covering three competition branches: dance creation, painting and fashion show. This theme, according to the Chairman of HMPS, is taken from the belief that the heritage and traditions of the archipelago will never fade with the times. “Culture always intersects with everyday life, and therefore, it must continue to be protected and celebrated,” said the Chairman of HMPS.

The Chief Executive, Suhail Ma'mun, also conveyed in his speech that this activity is a forum for the younger generation to play an active role in preserving Indonesian culture. “Nusantara Heritage Festival is here to accommodate the creativity of young people so that culture can continue to be preserved and enjoyed across generations,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of HMPS SPI Ibnu Chajar added in his speech that this festival is expected to become an educational space for students and the community. “We want to instill awareness about how important and rich Indonesian culture is, which is now starting to be eroded by modernization,” he said.

The event was officially opened by Mr. Tedy, S.Pd., who was present representing Delima Bungsu Andy, General Chair of the South Tangerang Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI). In his written remarks, the Youngest Pomegranate conveyed a moral message that the progress of the times must not erase the roots of tradition. “When we value our own culture, we are actually protecting our ancestral heritage,” he said in a message read by Mr. Tedy.

This festival was attended by 21 participants from various categories. The total number of participants attending reached 128 people. This activity also collaborates with 22 media partners from various communities and state Islamic religious universities (PTKIN). HMPS SPI also collaborates with the DKI Jakarta Cultural Service and received support from the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) as well as three main sponsors, namely PT Badak NGL, Bambu Community, and SAYNANA.

The series of events became even more lively with the performance of the Saman Dance by SPI students which depicts the spirit of collectivity and the richness of cultural expression. The activity then continued with a talk show with the theme “Betawi” Local Culture with H. Yoyo Muchtar, Local Cultural Officer at the DKI Jakarta Cultural Service, moderated by SPI student, Aqila.

Apart from that, the musical performances of the English Literature Study Program students also brightened the atmosphere, which was followed by a second talk show with the theme “Cultural Link” delivered by Bambang Permadi, M.Hum., a cultural observer from the Al-Aqidah Al-Hasyimiyyah Islamic Institute, and moderated by SPI student, Yola.

Before the event closed, there were two final performances, namely Pencak Silat UIN Jakarta and Band Aufklarung MBS Hadikusumo Jampang. Only then did the event close with the presentation of prizes to the winners of the competition In an atmosphere full of togetherness, the committee invited all participants to continue to contribute to maintaining the nation's cultural heritage.
