FAH Building, Berita FAH Online — The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again conducted a Qur’an Reading Test for new students of the 2026/2027 Academic Year on Saturday, September 26, 2026, on the first floor of the FAH Building. The activity is part of a series of religious development programs for new students and represents the Faculty’s effort to ensure that students possess adequate basic Qur’an reading skills.

The test was organized by the Qur’anic Study Autonomous Organization (Lembaga Otonom/LO Dauroh Qur’ani), which was entrusted by the Dean with conducting an assessment of Qur’an reading skills among all new FAH students. Through this assessment, students are mapped according to their Qur’an reading abilities, enabling the subsequent development process to be carried out in a more targeted manner based on each student’s needs.

The test was conducted in several sessions and involved new students from various study programs within FAH, namely Arabic Language and Literature (BSA), Islamic History and Civilization (SPI), Translation Studies (Tarjamah), Library and Information Science, and English Literature. The sessions and rooms were arranged to ensure that the assessment proceeded in an orderly and smooth manner.

After all new students complete the test, the assessment results will serve as the basis for grouping students according to their Qur’an reading abilities. Students who already demonstrate good Qur’an reading skills may subsequently be involved as peer mentors to assist in the development and learning process of other students.

The peer-mentor concept is an important component of this program. Students are not merely participants in the development program but can also take an active role in accompanying and assisting their peers in improving their Qur’an reading skills.

Through this approach, the program is expected to foster a closer, more collaborative, and sustainable learning environment among FAH students. The development program is also expected to assist students who still require guidance in gradually improving their Qur’an reading abilities.

The Qur’an Reading Program (Program Baca Qur’an/BQ) has now entered its second year of implementation at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. The continuation of the program demonstrates FAH’s commitment to making Qur’an reading development an integral part of the new-student development process.

Through continuous assessment and development activities, the BQ Program is expected not to stop at the initial assessment stage but to become an ongoing development process that provides a tangible impact on improving students’ abilities.

In addition to improving Qur’an reading skills, the program is also expected to foster care, solidarity, and a spirit of mutual support among students. Students with stronger abilities are given opportunities to share their knowledge and contribute to the peer-development process.

With the implementation of the Qur’an Reading Test for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, FAH UIN Jakarta reaffirms its commitment to supporting students’ academic development while simultaneously strengthening their religious values and character from the beginning of their university journey.

The BQ Program is expected to continue developing into one of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities’ sustainable student-development initiatives that provides long-term benefits for students.
