South Tangerang, FAH Online — Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta received academic visits from two researchers at the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) Brunei Darussalam Dr. Anis Malik Thoha (Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Development Mangement) and Dr. Cecep Sholeh Kurniawan, on Tuesday (03/03/2026). This visit is part of the follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) between the two institutions, especially in strengthening research cooperation.

The arrival of the research team was welcomed directly by the Dean of FAH, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum., accompanied by Deputy Dean III Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, MA, MA, Ph.D. The meeting took place in a warm and academic atmosphere with a focus on the final research of the two UNISSA researchers regarding the writing of the history of Sirah Nabawiyah, especially regarding the contribution of Malay (Nusantara) ulama in the tradition of writing Islamic history.

In the discussion it was revealed that this visit specifically aimed to follow up the MoA in the field of research. The two UNISSA researchers are currently completing final research regarding the writing of the history of Sirah Nabawiyah as well as the contribution of Malay (Nusantara) ulama in the historiography of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In this process, they discovered the relevance and academic strength of the FAH UIN Jakarta Islamic Civilization History Study Program (SPI), so that the institution was considered very appropriate to support the deepening of this research.

The Dean of FAH expressed the faculty's commitment to continue supporting the development of collaborative research. He emphasized that FAH is ready to help academically, including opening up opportunities for the involvement of SPI lecturers as co-supervisors, especially in guiding the study of the history of the sultanate in the archipelago which is one of the research focuses.

“We view this collaboration as a strategic step in strengthening Islamic history research based on Indonesian treasures. The involvement of SPI lecturers as academic assistants will certainly enrich the research perspective,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Dean III of FAH, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, said that the SPI Study Program was increasingly recognized after various international academic visits, including visits by academics from abroad, Prof. Sunawari Long (Adjunct Professor). According to him, this increased recognition opens up wider opportunities for SPI lecturers to be involved in reputable scientific publications.

“This collaboration provides opportunities for SPI lecturers to write and collaborate in international journals, including international Islamic research journals such as IJIT (International Islamic Research),” he said.

Apart from discussing research, the meeting also touched on plans for a tamyiz program for master's (S2) and doctoral (S3) students at UNISSA. This program allows students to undertake short studies over several weeks or months to other universities, both at home and abroad. FAH UIN Jakarta is considered to have the potential to become one of the goal partners in implementing this program.

During the visit, the UNISSA team expressed interest in the management of the FAH academic podcast as a strategic medium for scientific dissemination, given that similar facilities were not yet available at UNISSA. On this occasion, the two researchers also participated as resource persons in a podcast session hosted by Prof. Usep Abdul Matin.

Through this meeting, the two institutions agreed to continue strengthening synergies in the fields of research, academic guidance, scientific publications and international program development. It is hoped that the collaboration between FAH UIN Jakarta and UNISSA can make a real contribution to strengthening the study of Islamic history and developing the intellectual treasures of the archipelago on the global stage.
