FAH UIN Jakarta Receives Benchmarking Visit from Al-Amien Prenduan University, Sumenep, Madura
South Tangerang, August 06, 2024 - Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta today received a benchmarking visit from Al-Amien University Prenduan, Sumenep, Madura. This visit aims to share knowledge and experience in order to improve the quality of higher education in both institutions. The benchmarking theme this time is "Increasing the Capacity of Lecturers and Increasing Student Field Work Practices (PKL)".
The delegation from Al-Amien University was warmly welcomed by the leadership and academic community of FAH UIN Jakarta. Some of the parties from Al-Amien University who attended this agenda included:
1. Rector of Al-Amien University (Dr. KH. Muhtadi Abdul Mun'im, M.A)
2. Dean of the Faculty of Da'wah and Ushuluddin (Dr. Moh. Fattah, M.A.)
3. Representative of Sharia Banking Study Program
4. Representative of the Center for Qur'anic Studies
During the visit, the guests were introduced to the environment of FAH UIN Jakarta, as well as discussed with the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs of FAH UIN Jakarta, Head of Study Programs at FAH UIN Jakarta, and other educators. The benchmarking agenda was opened with remarks from the Rector of Al-Amien University, Dr. KH. Muhtadi Abdul Mun'im, M.A. "Thank you FAH UIN Jakarta for the precious opportunity. Our arrival aims to add insight and be able to learn with universities that have a stablish system so that we can emulate their success. I was inspired when I saw the "Joint Lecturer" activity carried out by UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta with UIN Walisongo Semarang, hopefully we can also hold such activities." explained the Rector of Al-Amien University. He also told a brief history of the establishment of Al-Amien University Prenduan, Sumenep, Madura. According to him, Al-Amien University was originally established as a university in Madura at the initiation of Professor Mahfud MD who wanted five universities in Madura. Therefore, Al-Amien University was established as a university under the auspices of Al-Amien Boarding School in Prenduan, Sumenep, Madura.
On this occasion, FAH UIN Jakarta and Al-Amien University discussed various topics, such as curriculum, learning methods, and research, developed at FAH UIN Jakarta. This visit is very useful for learning and exchanging experiences related to campus management and improving the quality of education. Several Heads of Study Programs explained the management system carried out to introduce their study programs.
Dr. Minatur Rokhim, M.A, Head of the Arabic Language and Literature (BSA) Study Program at UIN Jakarta, for example, explained that BSA Study Program tries to establish cooperation with other universities to improve the quality of research of BSA lecturers and students. He also said that UIN Jakarta BSA Study Program insists on adopting prospective lecturers (teaching staff) who have a doctoral education backgroun in order to be able to provide learning materials using fluent Arabic.
The Head of UIN Jakarta's Library Science Study Program (IPI) was also present and conveyed the performance system carried out by his study program team. "We from the Library Science Study Program often schedule seminars both online and offline to support study program activities. Usually many friends ask, why did the Library Science Study Program enter the Faculty of Adab and Humanities? The answer is because we (IPI Study Program) take the aspect of humanism / human as the object of our learning, namely humans as information users." said the Head of IPI UIN Jakarta. Hearing this explanation, the Rector of Al-Amien University then said that he was very interested in UIN Jakarta's Library Science Study Program and hoped to open a Library Science Study Program at Al-Amien University.
The benchmarking agenda conducted by FAH UIN Jakarta and Al-Amien University Prenduan Madura is a process to compare best practices between institutions. Through this activity, universities can identify their strengths and weaknesses and get inspiration to improve the quality of management and education. This benchmarking activity is expected to strengthen cooperation between UIN Jakarta and Al-Amien University so as to make a positive contribution to the development of higher education in Indonesia.
