Jakarta, FAH Online News — The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Studium General entitled “Breaking Professional Boundaries: Inspiration from FAH Alumni in Building a Wealth Mindset and Global Careers” at Syahida Inn, Campus 2 of UIN Jakarta, on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).

Held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), the event was attended by newly admitted FAH students as well as students who had achieved various accomplishments during the January–September 2026 period. The Studium General featured Akbar Zainudin, M.M., a national motivational speaker and Director of Man Jadda Wajada Education, and Ahmad Ali Hukmi, S.S., Founder of AIK Kopi and an entrepreneur.

In his remarks, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum., CIQnR, congratulated the new students on completing the series of orientation activities. He stated that approximately 800 students had joined FAH as new students.

Mr. Ade also emphasized the importance of developing a healthy mindset from the beginning of university life. According to him, students’ ways of thinking will influence how they navigate their educational journey, including their ability to graduate on time.

“How important it is to maintain a healthy mind and a healthy way of thinking. Because it will determine your future, including whether you graduate on time or not,” he said in his remarks.

Meanwhile, keynote speaker Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized that the orientation period is not merely intended to introduce students to the campus environment, but also serves as an initial stage in shaping students with good character and civility. He encouraged students to take advantage of various self-development opportunities available beyond their respective study programs.

Students, he explained, can develop their capacities through various organizations and campus activities, such as SEMA, DEMA, arts student organizations, martial arts, and other activities.

He also encouraged students to make UIN Jakarta a space for developing their abilities and expanding their opportunities. Education and organizational experience, he noted, can become part of the process of developing one’s potential.

“Being born poor is destiny, but becoming wealthy is an effort. Being born knowing nothing is destiny, but becoming knowledgeable is a process of learning,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that UIN Jakarta provides various activities and career development opportunities to help students prepare for entering the professional world. He also reminded students that FAH has many alumni who have pursued careers in diverse fields.

Among the alumni mentioned were Dr. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, Governor of the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lemhannas RI); Prof. Azyumardi Azra, one of the figures who initiated the transformation of IAIN into UIN Jakarta; and Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), who once taught within FAH. Ace Hasan Syadzily himself is an alumnus of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Jakarta.

Getting to Know Alumni and Self-Development Opportunities

The Studium General continued with an introduction to the Aby Makruf Foundation (AMF), delivered by Ms. Roro. The foundation was established by FAH alumna Hj. Aby Makruf, an alumna of the English Literature program, Class of 2009, who continued her master's education in International Class Management at Universitas Gadjah Mada.

AMF carries the spirit of “beneficial for others,” emphasizing the sharing of goodness and creating benefits for others. In early 2026, AMF established a scholarship program for English Literature students, providing a total of IDR 150 million in assistance to 50 students.

During the Studium General, AMF also supported the event as a sponsor and media partner and provided a door prize worth IDR 200,000.

The event then continued with a motivational session featuring Akbar Zainudin, M.M., National Motivational Speaker and Director of Man Jadda Wajada Education, who presented a session entitled “Breaking Boundaries: Wealth and Global Mindset.”

Akbar shared his personal experience of attending a student orientation program approximately 24 years ago. He recalled that a brief session during the program became one of the experiences that encouraged him to write down his dreams and aspirations.

He later shared how the dreams he wrote down gradually became reality. To date, he has visited 33 provinces and written 18 books.

Drawing from his experience, Akbar encouraged new students not to view university merely as an academic routine, but to begin establishing their goals and vision from the very beginning of their university journey.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Ali Hukmi, S.S., an FAH alumnus and Founder of AIK Kopi, shared his entrepreneurial experience. He currently develops AIK Kopi and supplies coffee to various regions across Indonesia.

The presence of these two alumni demonstrated the diverse career paths available to FAH graduates, whether through professional careers, entrepreneurship, or business development.

Outstanding Students Share Their Experiences

In addition to featuring alumni as speakers, the Studium General also served as an opportunity to appreciate FAH students who have achieved notable accomplishments.

One of them was Tirta Mayapada, a gold medalist in the history category of the Indonesian Academic Olympiad. Tirta explained that his participation in the competition was inspired by his younger sibling’s experience competing in the field of medicine. He was subsequently motivated to try competing in history.

For Tirta, the competition was a unique experience because he had previously participated in various competitions since elementary school, ranging from city-level to national-level events, but this was his first competition specifically focused on history.

He prepared by reading extensively on history, including works by Awalia Rahma. The greatest challenge he faced was that the competition was conducted online, making it impossible for him to directly know who his competitors were or how well the other participants performed.

Based on his experience, Tirta encouraged students not to waste opportunities that come their way.

“Whenever there is an opportunity, simply do your best.”

Through this Studium General, FAH UIN Jakarta not only introduced the academic environment to new students but also presented alumni experiences, self-development opportunities, and the stories of outstanding students as illustrations of the various possibilities that can be explored throughout their university education.

The event formed part of FAH UIN Jakarta’s efforts to encourage students to develop their academic capacity, organizational experience, networks, and readiness to enter the professional world from the beginning of their university journey. The Studium General was also listed on the official agenda of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on September 29, 2026, at Syahida Inn.
