FAH UIN Jakarta Holds SKPI Workshop for Library Science Study Program: Challenges and Innovations in Optimizing the Management of Islamic Reference Sources

Ciputat, June 10, 2024 - Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta held a workshop with the theme "Challenges and Innovations in Optimizing the Management of Islamic Reference Sources" at Abdul Ghani Theater Room, 5th Floor. The event held on Monday, June 10, 2024 aims to provide additional understanding and skills to Library Science Study Program students, especially in the field of information technology and management of Islamic reference sources.

The workshop, which took place from 09.00 to 12.00 WIB, presented Tarsim Fillah, S.Kom. as a resource person. He is known as an expert in Hadith digitization at the Hadith Study Center, with national and international scale experience in the IT field. The event was opened with remarks by Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M.Hum., CIQnR as the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities who emphasized the importance of this workshop in developing a work competency curriculum. He explained that in addition to having a diploma, alumni are also expected to have additional certificates recognized by the Professional Certification Agency (LSP), in order to increase competitiveness in the world of work.

In the core session, Mr. Tarsim, accompanied by moderator Muhammad Azwar, M.Hum, presented material on the topic "The Role of AI in Optimizing Islamic Reference Sources". He explained various challenges in managing Islamic reference sources, such as the diversity of sources, access and preservation that are not fully digitized, as well as language and dialect. The speaker introduced several applications developed by the Center for Hadith Studies, including "Interactive Learning Method of Hadith & Hadith Science" and "Personal Portrait and Life of the Prophet Muhammad", which can help students in understanding and accessing hadith and the life of the Prophet Muhammad in more depth.

In addition, on this occasion, Tarsim also introduced web-based applications such as https://selangkahlagiandamasuksurga.com and https://alquranalhadi.com, which make it easier for users to search for hadith and interact with Qur'anic verses. Another application is https://perpustakaanislamdigital.com, which provides 8000 volumes of digital books without royalties because they have been donated.

In the question and answer session, some students asked questions about obstacles in application development, the relevance of information, and how to access the application on the App Store. The speakers explained the challenges faced during technology development, and provided solutions to overcome irrelevant information and how to access applications that are available on the App Store.

The workshop ended with a closing by the committee, and is expected to motivate students to not only hope to get a diploma, but also pursue certifications that support their competence in the world of work. The Head of the Library Science Study Program, Siti Maryam, expressed her hope that students can continue to develop and utilize technology to improve the quality of education and management of Islamic reference sources.
