FAH UIN Jakarta Holds 138th Judicial Degree: Knitting Knowledge to Global Knowledge Networks Through Spirituality-Based Digital Innovation

Theater, FAH News Online - Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta held its 138th Graduation for the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Friday, November 28 2025, at the Theater Room, 5th Floor of FAH. This solemn event raised the theme “Knitting Knowledge Global Knowledge Networks Through Spirituality-Based Digital Innovation” and became a historic moment for graduates who are ready to enter a new chapter of service in society.

In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum., emphasized the importance of building a harmonious relationship between digital innovation and spirituality, two things that he said are the main foundations of FAH's vision and mission. He explained that spiritual values are never separate from technological developments, in fact the two complement each other. Linking the concept of digital code 1.0 with spirituality, he touched on the spirit of Surah Al-Qalam which mentions the word “Nun... for the sake of the pen and what they wrote,” as well as Sheikh Abdul Qadir al-Jaelani's views on the creation of the spirit, the prophet, nature and reason. According to him, the sentence monotheism Lā ilāha illā Allāh also has the symbolism “0.1” which shows divine unity as well as the duality of knowledge as an ethical basis. He also added that the rotating movement of the universe, such as tawaf or the rotation of the sun, can be understood as a form of “code of remembrance” that continues to lead humans to divine consciousness.

Furthermore, the Dean explained that knowledge is essentially composed of three complementary types: empirical knowledge (science), rational knowledge (philosophy), and mystical knowledge (ma'rifat). All three must be knitted into one integration so that graduates are able to face the challenges of the times with intellectual intelligence, clarity of reason and spiritual determination. He asserts that whatever academic degree graduates hold, they all carry the moral mandate to maintain the integrity of knowledge and make use of it for society. The Dean also reminded that the Pillars of Islam and the Pillars of Faith go hand in hand and both require common sense so that humans always feel watched by Allah. At the end of his speech, he advised graduates not to stop learning, even if they are already working, because the world of science is a journey without limits.

With the holding of the 138th Graduation, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Jakarta reiterates its commitment to producing a generation of intellectuals who excel academically, are spiritually profound and adaptive to global digital dynamics. The combination of science, ethics and technology is the main message which is expected to provide provisions for graduates in building a sustainable civilization.
