South Tangerang, FAH News Online - The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is increasingly serious in preparing for the opening of the Doctoral Study Program (S3) in the History of Islamic Civilization which is targeted to have international appeal. In a strategic meeting that took place on Monday (5/5/2025) in the 2nd Floor Conference Room, faculty leaders and a number of key lecturers comprehensively discussed various aspects, ranging from curriculum, infrastructure, to global promotion strategies.

The Dean of FAH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M.Hum, said that the readiness of infrastructure and regulations is a top priority. He highlighted the requirements for student admission, including the Letter of Acceptance (LOA), as well as finding solutions to regulatory constraints that do not allow lectures on weekends, considering that the majority of prospective doctoral students are workers.

In addition, scholarship opportunities from provincial to international levels will also be sought to support prospective students.

Professor of History of Islamic Civilization, Prof. Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, M.A., sees this doctoral program as a golden opportunity for Indonesia to show serious attention to the study of Islamic civilization in the global arena. "We can build constructive communication spaces with various countries, both West and East, for the reconstruction of a more just and inclusive Islamic civilization," he said with confidence.

The Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. lda Farida, MLIS, along with other faculty managers also discussed the details of the program's academic structure, including the choice of research or practice paths for students. The target of superior accreditation for graduates is also a major concern, with careful preparation ranging from lecture and examination facilities to the establishment of cumlaude and summa cumlaude graduation standards, as stated by Dr. Wahid Hasyim, M.A.

The development of research based on realistic and affordable sources for students is also an important focus, as expressed by Dr. Saiful Umam, M.A. In addition, FAH UIN Jakarta is considering adopting the Ph.D. by research model that was successfully implemented at UIN Alauddin Makassar as an option to strengthen student research skills.
