FAH UIN Jakarta Establishes Collaboration with ITB in the Context of Initiating the Opening of the Islamic Interior Design Study Program (DII)

Bandung, FAH Online News - In order to open a New Study Program, namely Islamic Interior Design, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities conducted a Bechmarking at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). This visit was led by the Dean of FAH Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M.Hum , Deputy Dean 1 Dr Ida Farida, MLIS, Deputy Dean III Prof Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., MA, Ma, PhD, and Head of TU FAH, as well as Lecturers and Educators. This visit was successfully held from 26 to 27 November 2024. During this visit, the FAH group was received directly by the Head of the Interior Design Study Program, Chair of the Expertise Group and several Senior Lecturers at ITB.

During the meeting, the Dean of FAH Dr. Ade Abdul Hak expressed the hope that through this collaboration, ITB can provide assistance as well as help complete the requirements needed to submit forms to the Ministry of Religion.

The Dean of FAH also revealed that the opening of the Islamic Interior Design Study Program is expected to attract the interest of the Muslim community, especially from students from Islamic boarding schools, to develop interior design that integrates Islamic values with interior design aesthetics. He also emphasized FAH's commitment to establishing further collaboration with ITB in the fields of research, Islamic studies in interior design, guest lecturers and student exchanges.

Deputy Dean 1 Dr Farida added that so far the desire to open an interior design study program had long been planned, but was hampered by various things. It is hoped that this meeting with ITB can realize this dream. Currently, FAH is waiting for the nomenclature regulations to be published by the Ministry of Religion, so that certainty of opening this study program can only be ensured in 2025.

ITB provided suggestions for opening an interior design study program at PTKIN, because the opening of interior design under PTKIN was the first and very interesting from an Islamic perspective, so ITB was very interested and wanted to help both from a curriculum creation and from a teaching perspective. ITB also said that the successful opening of Interior Design at PTKIN would mean that PTKIN under the Ministry of Religion would see UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.

Head of the ITB Interior Design Study Program, made a number of suggestions regarding the opening of an interior design study program at the State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN). This program is considered interesting because it is the first under PTKIN and offers a unique Islamic approach. ITB expressed full support, including in curriculum development and providing teachers. Of course, the successful opening of Interior Design at FAH will increase UIN Syarif Hidayatullah's reputation in society.

Deputy Dean III of FAH, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, added that the MoU between UIN Syarif Hidayatullah and ITB had ended in August 2024. Therefore, the renewal of the MoU is a priority so that cooperation can continue. After updating the MoU, FAH plans to carry out an MoA with the ITB Interior Design Study Program to strengthen operational cooperation

After the discussion was over, ITB invited the FAH group to see lecture rooms, laboratories and studios created by ITB Interior Design Study Program students. It is hoped that this visit will be a concrete first step in realizing the opening of the Islamic Interior Design Study Program under the auspices of FAH.
