FAH Online News, Singapore, July 17, 2026 – On the second day of the International Student Mobility (ISM) 2026 program, the delegation of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted an academic visit to the National University of Singapore (NUS). Held at the NUS Central Library, the event featured an academic discussion with researchers from the Asia Research Institute (ARI) NUS, as well as research presentations by FAH students before an international academic audience.

The FAH UIN Jakarta delegation was warmly welcomed by three ARI-NUS researchers, namely Bosman Batubara (Research Fellow), Dr. Priza Marendraputra (Postdoctoral Fellow), and Dr. Amorisa Wiratri (Postdoctoral Fellow). The meeting took place in a constructive academic atmosphere, discussing developments in humanities research, Southeast Asian Islamic studies, cultural heritage, as well as opportunities for research collaboration and academic mobility between the two institutions.

During the forum, three FAH UIN Jakarta students presented their research findings. Yoga Difa Perdana (Master’s Program in Islamic History and Culture) discussed pilgrimage practices as a form of living Islamic heritage at the Habib Ali Kwitang Tomb. Muhamad Abror, a doctoral candidate at FAH UIN Jakarta, explored the Kentongan Manuscript and the intellectual dynamics of traditionalist Muslim thought in Southeast Asia during the early 20th century. Meanwhile, Sania Aniqa (Master’s Program in Arabic Language and Literature) presented a study on the representation of Hamzah Fansuri’s Sufi thought by artificial intelligence models (GPT-4o and Gemini) from the perspective of Digital Islamic Humanities.

The three presentations received appreciation from ARI-NUS researchers, who provided methodological feedback, comparative perspectives, and suggestions for future research development. The discussion was highly interactive, reflecting the strong enthusiasm of both institutions in building cross-border academic networks.

For the students, the opportunity to present their research in the academic environment of NUS was a valuable experience to enhance scientific communication skills in an international forum and broaden their understanding of global research traditions. This activity also demonstrated that students of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Jakarta are capable of contributing to international academic discourse through innovative, relevant studies rooted in Islamic intellectual traditions and the cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago.

As the closing activity, the FAH UIN Jakarta delegation presented souvenirs in the form of student works to ARI-NUS researchers. A book written by Najwa Lathiifah Saepudin from the English Literature Program was presented as a symbol of appreciation while introducing the creativity and achievements of students from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

The academic visit to the National University of Singapore became one of the key agendas of the International Student Mobility 2026 program. Through direct dialogue with ARI-NUS researchers, FAH UIN Jakarta continues to strengthen its commitment to advancing higher education internationalization, expanding research collaboration, and producing globally competitive graduates while maintaining their foundations in Islamic scholarship and humanities.
