FAH UIN Jakarta Collaborates with AWG: Collaboration to Establish Baitul Maqdis Museum “Palestine Corner"

South Tangerang, FAH News Online – Islamic History and Civilization Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta initiated the establishment of the Baitul Maqdis Museum at UIN Jakarta in collaboration with the Aqsa Working Group (AWG). A meeting to discuss this plan was held on Friday, October 25 2024, in the Islamic History and Civilization Study Program room.

The arrival of the AWG team was welcomed by Deputy Dean III, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., MA, MA, Ph.D who is also a Professor in the field of History, and accompanied by Dr. Zakiya Darojat, MA as Chair of the History and Islamic Civilization Study Program.

Apart from discussing the establishment of the Baitul Maqdis Museum, this meeting is also intended to discuss preparations for the commemoration of Palestine Solidarity Month which is held every year in November. As is known, in November 2023 the Islamic History and Civilization Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with the Aqsha Working Group, held a Palestinian Solidarity Month which was filled with Palestinian Visual History Exhibition activities, and a Palestinian Seminar which was attended by the Palestinian Ambassador and a number of figures Indonesian Islamic organizations such as Muhammadiyah, NU, Persis, and also attended by representatives of foreign ministries.

In a meeting last Friday, October 25 2024, Prof. Usep as Professor of History and Deputy Dean in charge of collaboration expressed his hope that the Baitul Maqdis Museum and Palestine Corner at UIN Jakarta could complement various existing learning support facilities, such as the American Corner and Iran Corner. He added, “With this museum, students' insight will broaden, especially in accessing international references and scientific journals from various countries.” Prof. Usep also considers this idea very useful, especially for students of the History and Islamic Civilization Study Program, to deepen their knowledge of Islamic history and civilization. He hopes that UIN Jakarta students can get deeper learning opportunities, maybe even have the opportunity to study directly in Palestine.

Yusuf Maulana, Secretary of the AWG, emphasized that the theme of Palestine Solidarity Month 2024 is to increase public literacy awareness regarding Palestine. .”"We welcome the idea of establishing the Baitul Maqdis Museum, and it is hoped that this museum can provide a more comprehensive understanding, not just support, but also in-depth knowledge of the history and role of Baitul Maqdis," he said.

Dr. Zakiya Darojat, MA also conveyed the importance of establishing the Palestine Corner and Baitul Maqdis Museum at UIN Jakarta as educational facilities that will make it easier for students to access information and Palestinian history. "Based on this idea, we took the initiative to collaborate more closely with the AWG," he said. He hopes, "If the Baitul Maqdis Museum can be realized at UIN Jakarta, then the dissemination of information about Palestine can be more complete and comprehensive. Hopefully the leadership of Jakarta State Islamic University will also support this noble plan”. Head of SPI Dr. Zakiya is also committed to continuing to support the Palestinian struggle through the commemoration of Palestine Solidarity Month which is held every year at the SPI FAH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Study Program, Jakarta, by collaborating with the student organization (HMPS) SPI Study Program.

The meeting ended with a detailed discussion regarding forms of cooperation between the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Jakarta and AWG, which then closed with a joint photo session as a symbol of shared commitment in realizing this idea.
