FAH UIN Jakarta Capacity Building 2026: Building Leadership for Transformation and Collaboration
Pangalengan, FAH Online News – The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, held its 2026 Capacity Building program on October 9–10, 2026, in Pangalengan, Bandung, West Java. Carrying the theme “From Leadership to Legacy: Strengthening Collaboration, Inspiring Transformation,” the program served as an opportunity to strengthen leadership capacity, foster collaboration, and improve the quality of services within the faculty.
The event was attended by the Head of the Bureau of General Administration and Personnel (AUK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Dr. H. Nanang Fatchurochman, S.H., S.Pd., M.Pd., along with the FAH leadership team, including the Dean, Vice Deans, heads and secretaries of study programs, and educational support staff. The participation of all leadership and staff representatives reflected the importance of synergy in creating a productive, collaborative, and service-oriented work environment.
One of the sessions featured a leadership development presentation entitled “Build Yourself First, Then Empower Others.” The session emphasized that the ability to lead and inspire others must begin with a commitment to developing one's own qualities. Leadership is not merely about holding a position; it also involves character, skills, and the ability to exert a positive influence on one's surroundings.
During the session, the speaker outlined three essential foundations of leadership: self-awareness and continuous growth, effective communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset.
Self-Awareness and Continuous Growth
The first foundation is the ability to understand one's character, recognize personal tendencies, and continuously develop one's potential. Every individual has distinct characteristics and strengths. Therefore, self-management, adaptability, and the ability to build complementary working relationships are essential.
The speaker also emphasized the importance of having the courage to grow and improve oneself. This process requires a willingness to learn, take initiative, and engage in an environment that supports positive development. Through these efforts, each individual is expected to enhance their capabilities and make a greater contribution to the organization.
Communication as a Leadership Skill
The second foundation is communication. Communication involves not only conveying information accurately but also understanding the characteristics, needs, and perspectives of others. These skills must be continuously developed through active listening, recording important information, paying attention to detail, and adapting communication styles to different situations and audiences.
In the workplace, effective communication is essential for strengthening coordination, minimizing misunderstandings, and fostering cooperation across organizational units. It also helps leaders and educational support staff communicate ideas clearly and carry out their responsibilities more effectively.
Developing a Service-Oriented Mindset
The third foundation is a service-oriented mindset: an awareness that work should be carried out to benefit others and contribute to their well-being. Service is demonstrated not only through the completion of tasks but also through professionalism, consistency, and a commitment to delivering the best possible results.
The speaker stressed that service must be grounded in principles and integrity. In fulfilling their responsibilities, everyone must maintain consistency in their conduct and make decisions based on applicable rules and values, rather than being driven solely by position or particular interests.
In addition to the leadership development sessions, the 2026 Capacity Building program included team-building activities such as rafting and off-road adventures. These activities provided opportunities to strengthen team cohesion, build trust, and improve cooperation among participants through challenging yet enjoyable shared experiences.
Through rafting, participants were encouraged to coordinate their efforts and work in unison to achieve common goals. Meanwhile, the off-road activity offered an adventurous experience that encouraged participants to support one another, adapt to changing conditions, and overcome challenges together. Both activities formed part of FAH UIN Jakarta's efforts to strengthen interpersonal relationships between leaders and educational support staff.
Through the 2026 Capacity Building program, FAH UIN Jakarta seeks to further strengthen synergy between its leadership team and educational support staff in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. Developing personal capacity, communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset provides a foundation for creating a more collaborative, professional, and quality-driven work environment.
The spirit of “Build Yourself First, Then Empower Others” serves as a reminder that organizational change begins with each individual's willingness to keep learning, improve themselves, and make their best possible contribution. By developing personal qualities first, all members of FAH are expected to inspire positive change and deliver increasingly high-quality services.
