FAH Holds RPS Preparation Workshop to Increase Lecturer Competency
ADIA Convention Center, FAH News Online — Faculty of Adab and Humanities held a workshop on preparing Semester Learning Plans (RPS) for lecturers. This activity lasted for two days, on 17–18 November 2025, at the ADIA Convention Center, Jalan Kertamukti, Pisangan, Ciputat. This workshop aims to increase lecturer competency in preparing a curriculum that is good, systematic and in line with graduate learning achievements (CPL).
The event presented resource persons from Padjadjaran University, Dr. Ari Jogaiswara Adipurwawidjana, MA, lecturer in the English Literature Study Program and an artist. The workshop on the first day was hosted by Dr. M. Irfan Zamzami, M.Hum., Ph.D (CPNS Lecturer in the English Literature Study Program) as moderator while on the second day the resource person was accompanied by Rafi Raihan Nafis, MA (CPNS Lecturer in the English Literature Study Program). This activity was also attended by the Deputy Dean I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ida Farida, M.LIS., and Deputy Dean II for Administration, who provided full support for the holding of the event.
In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum., said that this workshop was a follow-up to the results of a survey of several class leaders, which showed that only around 70% of lecturers had uploaded RPS. In fact, RPS has been the main guide since the beginning of lectures so that students can understand their learning activities, assessment systems and academic responsibilities.
“Our job as lecturers is to ensure that RPS is delivered well," he stressed.
He hopes that this workshop can improve lecturers' ability to prepare RPS so that they are able to produce graduates who are competent in their fields.
At the material session, Dr. Ari explained again the basics of learning documents such as the syllabus, lesson plan, outline of the teaching program, and the role of RPS as the main guide for lectures in the classroom.
With a relaxed and distinctive delivery style, Dr. Ari also shared his personal experience. He recounted a period of college when he was considered a smart student, but when he continued his studies abroad he actually had difficulty following the dynamics of discussions in international forums. This experience made him realize that abilities that looked good in Indonesia were not necessarily enough to compete at the global level.
He emphasized that curriculum unpreparedness and minimal exposure to international standards can be major obstacles for students when it comes to interacting at the global academic level. Therefore, determining RPS in harmony with CPL is considered very important so as not to cause feelings of disappointment or lag behind students in the future.
During the second session, the coaching clinic, the lecturers followed the practice of preparing CPLs, which were accompanied directly by the resource persons, where each lecturer was asked to formulate CPLs and CPMKs from their respective courses as a first step towards the preparation of more comprehensive and standardized RPSs.
This workshop continued on the second day with assistance by Rafi Raihan Nafis, MA as moderator. At this session, the resource person reviewed in more depth the preparation of the RPS and continued the coaching clinic through interactive and constructive discussions. The dynamic atmosphere made participants better understand the technical steps in formulating CPL, CPMK, and preparing comprehensive and standardized RPS. At the end of the activity, the lecturers had produced an initial draft of the CPL and CPMK which were expected to become the foundation for the development of a higher quality RPS. Through this workshop, it is hoped that lecturers will be able to prepare RPS that not only meet national standards, but also have qualities that can be compared with international standards. (SN)
