Enhancing Students' Competencies in the Digital Era: FAH Student Senate Holds Multimedia Training on Visual Storytelling

South Tangerang, FAH Online News – Amid the rapid growth of the creative industry and digital media, the ability to communicate ideas through visual storytelling has become an increasingly essential skill. In response to this challenge, the Student Senate (SEMA) of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, organized a Multimedia Training entitled "Visual Storytelling" on Thursday (July 9, 2026), held in the Meeting Room on the second floor of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities.

The training was designed to equip students with multimedia competencies, particularly in producing creative, communicative, and industry-relevant visual content. Beyond mastering digital technologies, the program encouraged participants to convey ideas and information through compelling visual narratives capable of creating meaningful impact.

The event was initiated by the Student Senate of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in collaboration with LO CreatiFAH, the faculty's official creative media organization, which has actively developed a wide range of the faculty's digital publication products.

The program was officially opened by Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., M.A., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. He was accompanied by Hendra, S.T., M.Pd., Advisor of LO CreatiFAH and the keynote trainer, together with dozens of students representing various academic programs within the faculty.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin emphasized that multimedia competence is no longer merely an added value but has become an essential requirement for students entering an increasingly competitive professional environment.

"Programs like this should be sustained continuously to prepare our students for the professional workplace. The university serves as the first platform where students develop their creativity, explore their potential, and acquire new skills, particularly in multimedia. Those who master media possess greater opportunities to contribute to society and create meaningful impact," he stated.

He further explained that higher education institutions play a strategic role in producing graduates who are not only academically accomplished but also adaptable to the continuous advancement of information and communication technologies.

During the main session, Hendra, S.T., M.Pd. presented comprehensive materials covering the fundamentals of visual storytelling, multimedia content production techniques, and the creative process behind video production and digital media publication. He explained that the training reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening students' multimedia capabilities.

"This training program has been running for nearly two years and has now entered its second year of implementation. God willing, it will continue as part of our commitment to strengthening LO CreatiFAH while enhancing the multimedia competencies of FAH students in understanding and mastering the digital media landscape," he explained.

Unlike conventional workshops that focus primarily on theory, this Multimedia Training adopted a hands-on learning approach. Participants were introduced to every stage of content production—from conceptualizing ideas and filming techniques to visual composition and video editing—mirroring the actual workflow employed by the LO CreatiFAH creative team in producing the Faculty's official digital publications.

Through this immersive experience, participants not only learned the principles of visual storytelling but also gained firsthand insight into the collaborative process behind professional digital content production distributed through the faculty's official media platforms.

The training was conducted in a highly interactive atmosphere. Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the sessions, particularly during practical exercises and discussions. Questions regarding video production techniques, visual branding strategies, and career opportunities within the creative industry enriched the discussion session at the conclusion of the event.

Through this Multimedia Training program, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities aspires to cultivate more students who are adaptive to digital technological developments, capable of producing high-quality creative works, and prepared to become graduates who excel not only academically but also in visual communication and the creative industries.

The event also reflects the Faculty's strong commitment to supporting student competency development through collaboration between student organizations and autonomous institutions, thereby fostering an innovative, creative, and future-oriented learning ecosystem aligned with the demands of the digital era.
