Jakarta, FAH Online News — The beginning of 2026 is a proud momentum for the academic world, especially in the field of applied linguistics. The English Literature Study Program (Sasing), Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, further strengthens its academic existence and quality with the increase in teaching staff with doctoral degrees. This strengthening was marked by the achievement of a doctorate by one of the lecturers in English Literature, Dr. Moh. Supardi, SS, M.Hum., in the field of applied linguistics.

The lecturer in the English Literature Study Program at FAH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially holds the title of Doctor of Applied Linguistics in English after participating in the Promotion of the Open Session of the English Applied Linguistics Doctoral Program organized by the Faculty of Education and Languages, Atma Jaya Catholic University Indonesia, Thursday 15/01/2026 in Hall D Atma Jaya Catholic University Indonesia

This activity was attended by FAH academics. On this occasion, Deputy Dean II of FAH, Dr. Siti Amsariah, M.Ag., was also present representing the ranks of the deanery, along with invitees from various circles. This session is the final stage of the academic process of the English Applied Linguistics Doctoral Program which is open to the public.

In the promotional session, promovendus defended his dissertation entitled “Conceptual Metaphor in Translation: An Analysis of Animal Farm in English and Indonesian.” This dissertation examines conceptual metaphors in Animal Farm literary works by highlighting the translation comparison between English and Indonesian. The study was considered to have made a significant contribution to the development of translation studies, cognitive linguistics, as well as applied literary studies.

This academic achievement is part of the FAH English Literature Study Program's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of human resources, especially in supporting scientific development, research and research-based learning. The presence of lecturers with doctoral degrees is expected to enrich academic perspectives, strengthen research culture, and increase the competitiveness of study programs at national and international levels.

This success is not only a personal academic achievement for promovendus, but also a source of pride for the English Literature Study Program and the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. It is also hoped that this achievement will strengthen the implementation of the tridharma of higher education, especially in the fields of research, scientific publications and the development of language and literature.

By achieving a doctorate degree in early 2026, it is hoped that this achievement will be an inspiration for FAH lecturers and students to continue working, innovating and actively contributing to the development of science and language education in Indonesia. (SN)
