FAH UIN Jakarta| Coordination meeting ahead of the Implementation of the Introduction of Academic Culture and Student Affairs (PBAK) FAH UIN Jakarta was held on August 16, 2024, at the Theater Room, 5th Floor, Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta. This meeting aims to finalize the preparation of the upcoming PBAK implementation in 2024. PBAK is a crucial moment for new students in climbing campus life, so the university, faculty, and study program are committed to organizing it optimally.
In a speech given by the Dean of FAH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum., CIQnR., during the coordination meeting, he emphasized several important things that need to be highlighted in this PBAK. “The campus has a significant role to introduce new students to various relevant substances of campus life. Starting from facilities and infrastructure, such as classrooms, Administration (TU), to general services such as correspondence and Student Activity Units (UKM). Not only that, new students also need to understand the existing procedures, both related to administration and student activities,” he said.
Not only that, the Dean of FAH also said essential things related to the scheduling of PBAK FAH UIN Jakarta series. He suggested that the scheduling of events should be adjusted to the capacity and health conditions of the students. PBAK activities should not be too dense and the PBAK committee must ensure that all events organized can provide sufficient portions without missing important aspects of PBAK. The security aspect does not go unnoticed.
The theme of PBAK at the FAH UIN Jakarta 2024 level is “Caring for Culture, Creating History, and Harmonizing Social”. PBAK at FAH will invite new students to explore existing history and culture, and care for it together. One of the interesting agendas is PBAK Cakrawala which will illustrate the breadth of historical and cultural horizons that will be faced by new students. This activity will take place for one full day at Syahida Inn UIN Jakarta from 06.00 WIB to 17.00 WIB. In addition, students are also instructed to make twibbons on their respective Instagram accounts and prepare yells as part of the group activities. PBAK material at FAH will cover four main aspects: Faculty Science, Professionalism, Religious Moderation, and Culture. The schedule for this activity has been agreed to be divided between the faculty and study programs, with the hope that the activities can run more effectively.
PBAK UIN Jakarta in 2024 will feel more unique than previous years. Carrying the tagline “First 100 Days at UIN Jakarta: Sustainable Campus, Sustainable Achievement”, this year's PBAK aims to prepare new students to face the challenges of academic and social life on campus. PBAK is scheduled to start on August 21, 2024. The first week will focus on introducing UIN Jakarta's services, including how to manage AIS, scholarships, and other services. These services will be presented online, so new students can access this information easily.
On August 27-30, general orientation at the university level will take place. At this moment, students will get reinforcement related to behavior, attitudes, and academic ethics that are relevant to college life. All Student Activity Units (UKM) will introduce their activities offline. Explicitly, this will provide an opportunity for new students to get to know the various activities they can participate in.
Towards the closing of PBAK, there will be UMKM Village activities and regional student parades aimed at helping new students adapt to life in Jakarta. New students are also required to participate in all of these activities and will receive a certificate as a requirement for graduation.
Vice Dean 3 reminded that during the first 100 days, coordination will be very important, especially considering that most activities will be carried out online. New students are also required to sign a statement letter that must be uploaded immediately with their guardian. During the discussion, one of the participants asked about the extent of the supervisor's duties and responsibilities during the 100 days of PBAK. He also mentioned the materials that will be delivered at the faculty and study program levels, whether they are included in the activity rundown.
In response, Dr. Salamah Agung, M.A., Ph.D (Vice Dean 3 FITK Student Affairs) explained “The role of lecturers in the Learning Management System (LMS) is that they will act as managers of the LMS, with the function of mentoring and mentoring students. The mentors will act as moderators who help students in discussions and provide initial input for revising assignments. Students, on the other hand, are expected to be active in taking quizzes and discussions as part of the learning process,” he said.
Dr. Ida Farida, M.LIS. (Vice Rector 1 FAH for Academic Affairs) also added that “The Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum will be strengthened at the faculty and study program levels. The faculty will provide a deeper explanation of this curriculum, as well as the potential careers that students can achieve in the future. Critical thinking and philosophy of science will also be the focus of learning at the study program level, “he said.
One of the important points in this meeting was the introduction of the Green Campus program which is part of PBAK 2024. Dr. Siti Amsariyah, M.Ag. (Vice Dean 2 FAH for General Administration) suggested that new students not bring plastic bottles to campus, considering that UIN Jakarta has provided a water fountain as a substitute. Students are also encouraged to bring tumblers and plants as their contribution in maintaining the campus environment. In addition, there is a new rule that prohibits the use of elevators by students, except for those with disabilities. This aims to reduce energy use and support the Green Campus program. He also reminded new students not to bring vehicles to campus, given the limited parking space available.
Wayfinding and security are also concerns, with plans to involve OB officers in securing the activities. Overall, the Green Campus program aims to improve UIN Jakarta's ranking in terms of environmental sustainability, which is currently ranked 53 and is expected to rise to 30 after this program is implemented.
This coordination meeting emphasized the commitment of all parties in organizing a successful and sustainable PBAK UIN Jakarta 2024. By prioritizing the health and safety of new students, as well as introducing them to environmentally friendly campus life. PBAK is expected to provide a strong foundation for their academic journey at UIN Jakarta. PBAK UIN Jakarta will not only equip new students with knowledge, but also values that will help them face future challenges. With the support of all parties, PBAK 2024 is ready to be a good starting point in the academic and student journey at UIN Jakarta.
