Collaboration Initiation of Library Science Study Program with Taman Baca Pustaka Payung Mas (TBM PPM)
Library Science Study Program of Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a cooperation initiation with Taman Baca Masyarakat Pustaka Payung Mas (TBM PPM). The meeting was attended by Dr. Ida Farida, M.LIS (Vice Dean 1), Prof. Usep Abdul Matin S.Ag., M.A., M.A., Ph.D (Vice Dean III for Student Affairs), Siti Maryam, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum (Head of Library Science Study Program), Mrs. Safira (Head of TBM PPM), Mrs. Ratna (her colleague), as well as five students from the Volunteer program of Library Science study program.
This meeting took place in the Dean's Conference Room Lt.2 Faculty of Adab and Humanities to discuss the collaboration between UIN Jakarta IPI Study Program and TBM PPM. The collaboration is carried out for a period of 3 months, starting from mid-June to August 2024 which is located at Jl. Rajawali, Rt.01/Rw.12, Cipayung, Ciputat District, South Tangerang City, Banten 15411, TBM PPM. This activity involved five students from the 4th semester Library Science Study Program and is expected to be useful for the community.
In this meeting, the Head of TBM PPM said that the main focus of this activity is library development and program creativity, with the main target being children and the wider community. He also highlighted various activities that will be carried out such as bibliographic entry, classification, labelling, borrowing and returning books, as well as innovative programs that will be run by students.
"TBM PPM has received assistance in the form of 1500 copies of books, children's toys, shelves, tables, and chairs from the South Tangerang City Library and Archives Office," said the Head of TBM PPM. However, he also admitted that human resources to manage these facilities are still limited and require active support from students to develop the potential of TBM.
Then, the head of the Library Science Study Program, Siti Maryam, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum, and Deputy Dean III for Student Affairs Prof. Usep Abdul Matin S.Ag., M.A., M.A., Ph.D, M.Hum, welcomed the initiation of this collaboration. "This activity is expected to have an MOU and facilities for cooperation. And can attract children later.", said Vice Dean III for Student Affairs.
The discussion then continued about manual management of the master book and a simple but effective method of borrowing books. It is hoped that with this collaboration, TBM can attract more local residents to actively participate in literacy and creativity activities organized.
