Chancellor Supports FAH as Author of the History Book UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta
FAH Building, FAH News Online — Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is again developing its work by starting the journey of writing the book History of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This activity began through the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta History Writing Preparation Meeting which was held in the Main Courtroom on the 2nd Floor Friday, 01/23/2026.
The preparatory meeting was attended directly by the Chancellor of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, MA, Ph.D., as a form of full support for the implementation of writing the history of the institution. Also present was the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum., Deputy Dean I, Dr. Ida Farida, MLIS, Deputy Dean II, Dr. Siti Amsariah, M.Ag., and Deputy Dean III, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, MA, MA, Ph.D. Also present was the Head of the Master's Study Program in the History of Islamic Civilization, Prof. Jajat Burhanudin, MA, who also serves as Chair of the History Writing Team, as well as lecturers in the History of Islamic Civilization (SPI).
The presence of the Chancellor at this meeting confirms the importance of writing the history of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta as part of efforts to maintain institutional memory while strengthening the academic identity of universities. On this occasion, the Chancellor also expressed his trust in the Faculty of Adab and Humanities as the person responsible for writing the history book UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
Apart from discussing technical aspects and directions for writing history books, this meeting also confirmed the commitment of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in strengthening the FAH's Excellent Research Program based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program covers five strategic themes, namely humanities in the digital realm, preservation of Indonesian Islamic culture, applied Arabic linguistics based on artificial intelligence (AI), moderate Islam and multiculturalism, as well as historical and cultural literacy in Indonesian Islam. These five themes are seen as relevant to contemporary academic challenges while also being in line with FAH's vision of scientific development.
In his direction, the Chancellor emphasized that each superior research theme must be accompanied by a competent and experienced mentor. This assistance aims to ensure the academic quality of research, maintain the focus of study so that it remains in accordance with the faculty's research roadmap, and ensure the continuity and sustainability of research programs in the long term.
Furthermore, the meeting also discussed the technicalities of writing the history book UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, including plans to collaborate with UIN Press as a publishing partner, official assignments to the Faculty of Adab and Humanities as writing coordinator, as well as the concept of presenting books which are expected to be packaged in an interesting, communicative and easy to read manner without reducing academic depth.
Through this preparatory meeting, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities is committed to preparing plans for writing history books carefully, systematically and collaboratively. It is hoped that the final results of writing this history book will not only become a credible academic reference, but also become a valuable intellectual legacy for the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta academic community and the wider community.
