BSA Befriends: Bringing Smiles and Building Warm Connections with the Elderly
South Tangerang, FAH Online News – A Nursing Home Volunteer Program was successfully held at Budi Mulia 3 Social Nursing Home on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The event, which began at 1:00 p.m. WIB, proceeded smoothly in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, bringing together elderly residents, nursing home staff, organizers, and volunteers in a spirit of togetherness.
The program commenced with opening remarks by the masters of ceremony, Aisyah Husna Ahsani Taqwim and Marsha Hanny Zahri. This was followed by speeches from the Head of the Environment and Social Affairs Department (Lingsos), Aisyatun Najihah, the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Kayla Putri Auliah, and a representative of the management of Budi Mulia 3 Social Nursing Home.
In the welcoming remarks, the nursing home representative explained that the residents include healthy older adults, stroke survivors, and individuals with mental health disorders. The representative also highlighted the home's regular recreational programs, such as visits to Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) and other tourist destinations. These activities reflect the institution's commitment to promoting the physical, mental, and social well-being of its residents and enhancing their quality of life.
As a token of appreciation for the warm welcome and collaboration, the organizing committee presented a commemorative plaque to the nursing home's representative before proceeding to the main activities.
The main program began with an ice-breaking session attended by 30 elderly residents. Through music and simple movements, the session created a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and enthusiasm while fostering closer interaction between the volunteers and the residents.
The event continued with a creative workshop, the highlight of the program. Participants were invited to make decorative flowers using wire and chenille stems and to decorate canvas tote bags according to their own creativity. Throughout the session, volunteers provided hands-on assistance, helping participants complete their crafts while engaging them in friendly conversations. These meaningful interactions became one of the most memorable aspects of the event.
After the creative session, participants enjoyed light refreshments and sang together, creating an even more joyful atmosphere. The elderly residents proudly showcased their handmade flowers and decorated tote bags, reflecting their enthusiasm and creativity throughout the program.
The event concluded with a group photo session and video documentation to preserve the memorable moments. Following the closing remarks by the masters of ceremony, the residents were escorted back to their rooms by the nursing home staff.
The Nursing Home Volunteer Program at Budi Mulia 3 Social Nursing Home was more than just a community service activity. It fostered happiness among the elderly while strengthening the values of compassion, empathy, and volunteerism.
