Benchmarking UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi at Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta
On Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the main courtroom on the 2nd floor, the leadership of FAH UIN Jakarta received a delegation from UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi which aims to conduct a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The event was opened by Mr. Iwan Kurniawan, M.Si as the Head of General Affairs of FAH, followed by various presentation and discussion sessions discussing various study programs and strategies to improve the quality of education.
The Vice Dean II, Dr. Siti Amsariah, M.Ag., then introduced the Head of Study Program (Kaprodi) and Secretary of Study Program (Sekprodi) from each study program at FAH including Library Science, Arabic Language and Literature, Islamic History and Civilization, English Literature and Tarjamah. The introduction was warmly welcomed by the Dean of FAH UIN Jambi, Mrs. Dr. Dian Mursidah. She also introduced the delegation members from FAH UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi.
The discussion session was initiated by Vice Dean III, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, Ph.D who discussed three main topics, namely:
- Tracer Study: Fakultas Adab dan Humaniora mendorong alumni untuk berpartisipasi dalam tracer study sebagai upaya untuk melacak lulusan yang sudah bekerja atau melanjutkan studi. Semua mahasiswa yang akan yudisium diharuskan mengisi tracer study ini, dan mahasiswa didorong untuk mengikuti program magang MBKM agar memiliki pengalaman kerja yang dapat diinput dalam tracer study.
- Internationalization: The faculty is also involved in various international activities, such as organizing international competitions in collaboration with Universiti Kebangkitan Malaysia (UKM). In addition, the faculty also collaborates with international institutions such as Jawaharnal Nehru, Odissi, and Caukin Studio from India to improve the quality of education.
- Establishment of S3 Program in Islamic Cultural History: After conducting a comparative study, FAH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta plans to establish a doctoral program (S3) for Islamic Cultural History, given the large number of professors in this study program
The discussion responded with a discussion of collaboration between the two universities, including in the preparation of excellent apeti forms, ISK, and improving the lecture process and faculty activities. Plus the desire to do independent collaboration, data collection in the regions, exchange of articles, and plans to organize international seminars and other student activities. Mr. Iwan Kurniawan, M.Si also highlighted the importance of socialization through the Instagram platform, SKPI, and the opportunity to invite successful alumni during graduation. In addition, Mr. Iwan emphasized the importance of closeness between vice deans and students to understand the dynamics in the classroom and support faculty policies.
Each study program at FAH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta also shared best practices to improve the quality of education, such as strategies to graduate students on time and increase collaboration with national and international institutions. The visit was closed with the hope that collaboration and cooperation between UIN Jakarta and UIN Jambi can be implemented collaboratively, supportively, and mutually supportive to achieve a superior image.
