Malaysia, FAH Online News — Courage to seize opportunities, the ability to lead, and a strong commitment to making a meaningful contribution have led Yus Ramadhani, an eighth-semester student of the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, to an outstanding achievement on the international stage.

At the Indonesia Golden Youth Summit (IGYS) Batch 2 Chapter Malaysia, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 21 to 24, 2026, Yus successfully brought home seven awards, consisting of five team awards and two individual awards. One of his highest achievements was Best Delegate – 1st Place.

The achievement was not merely a personal accomplishment for Yus, but also a source of pride for FAH UIN Jakarta. Amid a forum that brought together young people from various universities and regions across Indonesia, Yus demonstrated that students from language and humanities disciplines are equally capable of competing in global issues, leadership, technological innovation, and sustainable development.

Taking Part in an International Youth Forum in Malaysia

The Indonesia Golden Youth Summit (IGYS) is an international forum for Indonesian youth organized by Langkah Emas Indonesia (Lamansia). Over the course of four days, participants took part in a series of programs designed to strengthen leadership capacity, international awareness, communication skills, creativity, and collaboration.

The programs included Youth Leadership & Personal Development, Embassy Visit & Diplomatic Discussion, Academic Visit & International Youth Forum, Bridging Voice & Cultural Sharing, as well as SDGs Project Presentation and various delegation projects and competitions.

For Yus, participating in IGYS was more than simply taking part in an international competition. The forum became an opportunity to learn, build networks, exchange ideas, and test his abilities in a broader environment.

One of the memorable experiences was the opportunity to visit two leading universities in Malaysia: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

During the visits, participants had the opportunity to explore the academic environment and engage in discussions on various perspectives on education, academic culture, and global issues.

Actively Discussing the Ethics of AI Use

One of the sessions that particularly captured Yus's attention was a lecture on the ethics and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), delivered by a lecturer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Rather than being a passive participant, Yus actively engaged in the discussion. He shared his views on the potential risks of AI when its use is not accompanied by awareness, ethics, and responsibility.

He also posed several critical questions to the speaker. The experience provided him with an opportunity to strengthen his critical-thinking skills while exploring how technological issues can be viewed from academic and social perspectives.

His active participation became part of the process that further strengthened his role throughout the IGYS program.

Entrusted to Lead a Team Addressing Digital Well-Being

In addition to representing UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta as a delegate, Yus was entrusted with leading a team addressing one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Goal 3, Good Health and Well-Being.

Together with six young people from different regions and institutions, Yus formed the Digi-Tox Group (Digital Detox).

The team consisted of Meautia Azzahra from Universitas Airlangga, Shofiah Salsabila from Poltekkes Kemenkes Bengkulu, Ahmad Faris Hidayah from UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh, Azzahra Varaza Iqbal from MAN 1 Kota Malang, Putri Reyditha C from SMA Bhakti Idhata Jakarta, and Atiqah Ramadhani S from MAN Yogyakarta.

The diversity of the members' backgrounds became both a challenge and a strength for the team. They had to bring together different perspectives, divide responsibilities, develop ideas, and prepare their presentation within a limited period of time.

This was where Yus's leadership skills were put to the test.

As team leader, Yus was not only responsible for the final outcome of the project but also ensured that every member had the opportunity to contribute. This cross-regional and cross-institutional collaboration eventually produced an innovative idea called Digi-Tox (Digital Detox).

Turning the Doomscrolling Problem into an Innovative Idea

The Digi-Tox Group addressed the phenomenon of doomscrolling, the habit of continuously consuming information through digital devices, particularly negative or distressing content, which can affect psychological well-being and overall quality of life.

The team developed the issue into a proposed solution in the form of the Digi-Tox (Digital Detox) application.

The application was designed as an AI-based digital rehabilitation platform intended to help individuals struggling with doomscrolling addiction. Its concept focuses on an active, gradual, and sustainable rehabilitation process.

The idea is particularly relevant because it connects technological development with the health and well-being of young people. Technology, which is often viewed as part of the problem, is instead utilized as part of the solution.

Through this project, Yus and his team demonstrated that young people are not only capable of identifying problems in society but also have the courage to propose innovative ideas as alternative solutions.

Five Awards for the Digi-Tox Group

The hard work of the Digi-Tox Group eventually paid off. During the Awarding Delegate session, the team led by Yus received five awards.

The five awards were:

1. Best Group – 1st Place

2. Best Presentation Slide – 1st Place

3. Most Engaging Group – 1st Place

4. Most Active Group – 1st Place

5. Most Creative Social Media Project – 3rd Place

These achievements demonstrated the team's ability to collaborate, develop ideas, deliver effective presentations, build communication, and present their project creatively.

For FAH UIN Jakarta, the achievements also demonstrate that students possess not only academic competence but also the ability to apply communication, leadership, creativity, and teamwork skills in an international forum.

Yus Named Most Inspiring Team Leader

Yus's role as team leader also received individual recognition.

In recognition of his leadership, dedication, and ability to motivate and empower team members, Yus received the Most Inspiring Team Leader – 2nd Place award.

The award recognized Yus's contribution throughout the team's working process. Leading a group whose members came from different institutions and regions required strong communication and adaptability.

However, Yus's greatest achievement came with his next award.

He was named Best Delegate – 1st Place, the highest individual award he received at the event.

The award was presented based on various criteria, including leadership, character, active participation, and contribution throughout the IGYS 2026 program.

With two individual awards and five team awards, Yus Ramadhani ultimately brought home seven awards from the Indonesia Golden Youth Summit 2026 Batch 2 Chapter Malaysia.

“You Don't Have to Wait Until You Are 100 Percent Ready”

Behind the seven awards he received, Yus has a simple message for young people: do not wait too long until you feel completely ready.

According to Yus, opportunities often arise when someone does not yet feel fully prepared. Therefore, having the courage to take the first step is essential.

“You don't need to be 100% ready or 100% certain.”

For Yus, failure should not be a reason to stop moving forward. Instead, failure is part of the learning process that can make a person stronger.

“You will never die from failing to try. But you will live forever with regret if you never try.”

The message reflects the experience he gained during IGYS. Being in a new environment, meeting people from different backgrounds, leading a team, presenting ideas, and competing on an international stage all required courage.

However, Yus believes that courage must be accompanied by effort and faith.

“All you need is the courage to take the first step—even if your steps are trembling—and believe that Allah will be with you every step of the way on your new journey.”

From Language and Humanities to the International Stage

Yus Ramadhani's achievement demonstrates that students of Arabic Language and Literature are not limited to academic fields related solely to language and literature.

The knowledge and skills acquired through humanities education can serve as valuable assets for pursuing careers and contributions in leadership, diplomacy, communication, technology, social innovation, and sustainable development.

Yus's success in leading the Digi-Tox Group also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary skills. The issue of doomscrolling, for example, can be viewed not only from a technological perspective but also through the lenses of health, human behavior, communication, education, and digital culture.

In this context, humanities students have broad opportunities to contribute to addressing various challenges faced by society.

Inspiring FAH Students to Take the First Step

The seven awards won by Yus Ramadhani in Malaysia are ultimately more than a collection of accolades. They represent the courage to try, the ability to collaborate, and the willingness to keep learning.

Participation in international forums also provides students with opportunities to represent UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on a global stage while building networks with young people from diverse regions and institutions.

Yus's achievement serves as a reminder that opportunities can come from many directions. What matters is having the courage to seize them, the willingness to learn from the process, and the determination to keep moving forward even when taking the first step feels difficult.

For students of FAH UIN Jakarta, Yus's story can serve as an inspiration not to be afraid of stepping outside their comfort zones. Competitions, conferences, international forums, social projects, and various personal development activities can become valuable spaces to test one's abilities while opening doors to broader experiences.

Ultimately, as Yus emphasizes, no one has to wait until they are perfect to begin.

Be brave enough to take the first step, dare to try, and be willing to learn from every part of the journey. Great opportunities can begin with a single small step.
