ALII and LP2M UIN Jakarta Socialize AI Policy and International Research Opportunities for FAH Lecturers
South Tangerang, FAH News Online - The Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Institute (ALII) and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta recently held a socialization event specifically for faculty members of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH). The event aimed to provide an in-depth understanding of the policy on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the academic world and to introduce the International Research Fellowship Program as an opportunity for global research development.
The first session of the socialization initiated by ALII introduced Mrs. Khodijah Hulliyah M.Si., Ph.D. as a resource person. She emphasized the importance for lecturers, especially in FAH, to understand the rapid development of AI technology and how to integrate it ethically and productively into the activities of the three pillars of higher education.
"The focus of this socialization is not only to discuss the development of AI, but also the ethical aspects of its use and how we can make the most of AI," explained Mrs. Khodijah. She also reminded us of the potential bias that AI can create if not used with proper critical thinking. "AI only answers based on existing data. Therefore, the process of students' assignments, including the process of their interaction with AI, is now an important aspect of assessment," she added. In addition, Ms. Khodijah said that ALII plans to hold a declaration on the use of AI for the entire academic community of UIN Jakarta, especially for students who will complete their final thesis. This step is considered important to welcome a future where AI is predicted to play an increasingly important role in the production of information and scientific works.
In the second session, LP2M UIN Jakarta introduced the International Research Fellowship Program through Prof. Amelia Fauzia Ph.D.. This program provides opportunities for FAH faculty who have the potential and interest to collaborate in research with colleagues from foreign universities.
Prof. Amelia explained that this program is a strategic initiative to improve the quality and quantity of research at UIN Jakarta, as well as to expand international academic networks. "This is one of the ways to increase the faculty's accreditation. In the QS ranking, the number of faculty who conduct research abroad will be 5% of the evaluation points," explained Prof. Amelia.
The International Research Fellowship Program offers a long-term program (2-3 years). The main requirements for joining this program are a doctoral degree (S3) and the relevance of the expertise to the research area of interest. Prof. Amelia hopes that this program will motivate FAH faculty to be active in collaborative research, which will contribute to improving faculty accreditation and university rankings.
This socialization is expected to provide FAH UIN Jakarta faculty with a better understanding of the potential and challenges of AI in the academic world, and open up opportunities for productive international research collaborations.
