Achieving the Predicate of Piety Through the Momentum of Ramadan Worship
South Tangerang, FAH News Online - This Mutiara Ramadan program presents inspiring tausiyah presented by Kaula Fahmi, Lc, M.Hum. on Saturday, (07/03/2026). In his delivery, he emphasized that the main goal of Muslims in carrying out worship in the month of Ramadan is to form themselves into servants who are devoted to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Linguistically, piety means fear of Allah, while in terms it means carrying out all His commands and avoiding all His prohibitions. This holy month is a golden opportunity to train one's desires so that one can achieve this noble degree, as Allah promises about heaven as wide as the heavens and the earth for those who are pious.
Based on Surah Ali Imran verses 133 and 134, the main characteristic of pious people is those who hasten to Allah's forgiveness without delaying repentance for the sins they have committed. Apart from that, they have a strong generous character by always giving and giving alms, both in spacious and cramped conditions, as well as when rich and difficult. Ramadan teaches people not to be selfish and care more about the condition of fellow Muslims who are lacking, so as to create a relationship that strengthens each other like a building.
The next characteristic of a pious person is the ability to hold back anger. Fasting is not just about holding back hunger and thirst, but also about refraining from lust that can plunge you into hell. When anger struck, the Prophet advised him to remain silent so that long regrets would not arise in the future due to momentary emotional outbursts. Patience is the main key in controlling oneself during the spiritual education process in the month of Ramadan.
Apart from holding back anger, pious people also have the will to forgive the mistakes of fellow humans. Even though it is difficult to do when ego and arrogance overshadow, the momentum of Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr must be used as a turning point to forgive each other and erase feelings of revenge and envy. Allah loves His servants who like to do good deeds, including those who feed people who break their fast, because these pious deeds will be rewarded with double rewards directly from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
By understanding these characteristics, it is hoped that the Ramadan worship will not just become an annual formality that repeats itself without bringing real change. True piety must be sustainable, which includes improving individual worship as well as increasing social awareness. Through a strong intention and determination to continue to improve themselves, every Muslim has the opportunity to end Ramadan as a better person and truly achieve the title of piety in the sight of Allah.
