Academic Orientation Discusses International Research and Conference Opportunities for SPI FAH Postgraduate Students
South Tangerang, FAH News Online - Master's Program in Islamic History and Culture as well as Doctoral Program in History of Islamic Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held Academic Orientation & Open Together activities on Friday, March 6 2026. This activity took place in the SPI Doctoral Room, 3rd Floor of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities and was attended by master's students, doctors and lecturers.
This Academic Orientation activity aims to provide students with an understanding of the importance of strengthening academic research and opportunities for participation in international scientific forums. On this occasion, the Head of the MSKI and DSPI Study Program, Prof. Dr. Jajat Burhanudin presented information about opportunities to take part in international research and conferences organized by Seattle University, United States.
In his presentation, he emphasized that postgraduate students, especially in the field of the history of Islamic civilization, need to actively carry out in-depth research and produce scientific work that can be presented in international forums. This not only improves the academic quality of students, but also expands collaboration networks with researchers from various countries.
Apart from that, this activity also provides an overview of the participation process in international conferences, starting from writing abstracts, preparing academic papers, to the process of presenting research results. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of scientific publication opportunities that can enhance their academic contribution in the development of the study of Islamic history and civilization.
The discussion session was interactive with various questions from students regarding paper submission mechanisms, research funding opportunities, and scientific article writing strategies that meet international conference standards. The lecturers provide various inputs related to historical research methodology, the use of primary sources, and the importance of strengthening academic language skills.
This event was also immediately warmly welcomed by the Dean of FAH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M. Hum. He emphasized that the future of the MSKI and DSPI study programs lies in the quality and quantity of research for students and lecturers. To achieve excellence, the DSPI study program, which is a new study program, must complete the publication of its lecturers and students.
Through this activity, the Master's Program in Islamic History and Culture and the Doctoral Program in History of Islamic Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hope that students can be more active in conducting research and participating in global scientific forums.
Academic Orientation activities then closed with prayer and continued with breaking the fast together as a form of togetherness between students and lecturers in the academic environment of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities.
