Tarjamah Study Program Student Association Holds Journalism Writing Class

South Tangerang, FAH News Online — Tarjamah Study Program Student Association (HMPS) Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta collaborates with the Emhaes Learning Center, which is an institution that is a place of learning, from personal learning to capacity building. successfully held Writing Class activities with the theme “Honing Journalism Skills: Building a Generation of Creative and Professional Students in the Digital Era.” This event was held at the Abdul Ghani Theater, 5th Floor of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, on Tuesday (14/10), at 08.00 until the end. The event presented two main sources, namely Ezra Sihite, S.Hum., M.Msi., (Founder of Emhaes) and Muhammad Ikhwan (Journalist for CNN Indonesia TV).

This activity was attended by lecturers, faculty administrators and Tarjmah Study Program students. The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum., CIQnR, who in his speech emphasized the importance of the ability to differentiate between the language of news and the language of scientific articles. Then, he emphasized the importance of certifying students' journalistic abilities as a support for their career path after graduating from Bachelor's degree.

“The language of news and scientific articles is different, and it is a skill that students must have. In the future, it is hoped that this program will continue with a journalism certification program. "Later, this certificate can be proof of professionalism as well as a companion to a Bachelor's degree," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the two resource persons present for sharing their knowledge and journalistic experience with the participants.

Meanwhile, Chairman of HMPS Tarjamah, M. Fadlan Amir, in his speech said that this journalism class was held to instill basic journalistic values in students.

“Through this activity, we hope that students can become journalists who not only master one language, but are also able to write in more than one language, especially Arabic which is the basis at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah,” he said.

In the same vein, the Chief Executive, Hafizd Wilman, hopes that this activity will be a space for students to hone their critical and creative thinking skills.

“It is hoped that this activity will become a forum for participants to hone critical and creative thinking. "I also thank the committee, participants and resource persons who have contributed to the success of this event," he said.

The first presenter, Ezra Sihite, S.Hum., M.Si., provided material about journalistic ethics and practice in the digital era. Then, continue by doing quizzes online. Participants followed the challenge enthusiastically. The second speaker, Muhammad Ikhwan, also presented material about journalistic writing skills.

By holding this activity, it is hoped that Faculty of Adab and Humanities students will be increasingly motivated to write, think critically, and be ready to become a generation of professional journalists who are able to adapt to developments in information technology and mass media in the digital era.
