Palestine Solidarity Month Islamic History and Civilization Study Program Presents the Spirit of “Boundless Solidarity”
Jakarta, 20 November 2025 — The Islamic History and Civilization Study Program (SPI) Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held the Palestine Solidarity Month (BSP) agenda on Thursday, 29 Jumadil Ula 1447 H/20 November 2025, with the theme “Boundless Solidarity: The Voice and Action of the Young Islamic Generation for Palestine.” This activity was both lively and solemn, attended enthusiastically by students, lecturers and invited guests. This year's BSP event is the 3rd year for the SPI Study Program in organizing this event. In 2023 the SPI Study Program collaborated with the Aqsha Working Group (AWG) to hold a BSP which was attended by the Palestinian Ambassador, Dr. Zuhair SM. Al-Shun and several figures from Indonesian Islamic mass organizations. The second year of BSP is 2024. The SPI Study Program presents resource persons from several experts and writers about Palestine from various campuses, and in 2025, according to the theme, the SPI Study Program presents young intellectuals, namely SPI alumni, who raise the Palestinian issue as their final task. Apart from being filled with seminars and talksows. The event was also packaged with visual exhibitions in the form of posters of events experienced by the Palestinian people as well as performances from students.
In his speech, the Chair of the SPI Study Program BSP Committee, Deandra, who is a 3rd semester SPI student, said that this activity was a forum for students to express empathy and concern for humanitarian issues in Palestine. “This is a momentum to show that the solidarity of the younger generation never goes out,” he said.
The next welcome was delivered by the Head of SPI Study Program, Dr. Zakiya Darajat, MA, who emphasized the importance of linking the Palestinian issue with scientific and humanitarian values in the study of Islamic history. The SPI Chief of Study Program also said that the Palestine Solidarity Month Commemoration event is a momentum that is not only ceremonial but is a statement of our moral and intellectual attitude as part of Muslims and citizens of the world. ”Palestine has become a symbol of extraordinary patience and steadfastness, a resistance to oppression and injustice that continues to be displayed beyond the limits of humanity, and our duty is to support them with all the strength we have, whether through knowledge, advocacy, prayer, and concrete action that is in accordance with our capacity as an academic community. According to him, Muslims need to thank the Palestinian people who have sacrificed tears, blood and lives to be a shield to protect Baitul Maqdis, which contains the Aqsa Mosque as the first Qibla for Muslims.
The event also received full support from Deputy Dean III, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, MA, Ph.D, who appreciates the enthusiasm of the SPI Study Program and students in bringing this solidarity agenda to life.
Apart from that, also present was the Chair of the BSP Committee from the Aqsa Working Group (AWG), Ustadz Nur Hadis, who encouraged the younger generation to continue to voice justice for Palestine through concrete actions.
In accordance with the theme launched, this BSP activity presents four sources who are the younger generation who are concerned about the Palestinian issue. Satria Tamami, S. Hum and M. Dicky Efan Matondang, S.Hum is an alumnus of the SPI Study Program which takes the Palestinian theme as final project research. Meanwhile, Alhim Adawiyah Syabani is a 7th semester SPI student who was a volunteer at AWG. Meanwhile M. Fathurrahman is an AWG activist who took part in the Global Sumud Flotila humanitarian mission which was ultimately thwarted by Israeli Zionists. The four sources discuss various perspectives, ranging from the history of the Palestinian conflict, the socio-political dynamics of the region, to the role of Muslim youth in global advocacy. The participants seemed enthusiastic about taking part in the discussion, which was interactive and insightful. The talk show moderator is Dr. Faizal Arifin, M. Hum, who is a SPI lecturer who is also actively involved in every BSP commemoration held by the SPI Study Program with AWG.
Adding to the solemnity of the event, SPI students also performed poetry readings, songs and theatrical monologues about Palestine with the theme of struggle and humanity in Palestine. This performance received warm appreciation from the audience because it succeeded in arousing emotions and strengthening the message of solidarity.
With a series of events that are both informative and empathetic, this year's Palestine Solidarity Month activities are an important space for young people to strengthen humanitarian commitment. Through real voices and action, SPI students emphasized that support for Palestine is part of a moral struggle that knows no boundaries, and will continue until Palestine gains its true independence. Because the struggle to defend Palestine is an eternal struggle.
