Library Science Program at FAH UIN Jakarta Holds Guest Lecture on Static Records Management with ANRI Expert
South Tangerang, FAH Online News — The Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, organized a guest lecture specifically discussing procedures for managing static records on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The event was conducted virtually and featured Octavia Syafarwati, S.Si., M.A., an Intermediate Expert Archivist from the Central Archives Directorate of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI), as the main speaker.
The guest lecture, coordinated by the archival studies lecturer Dr. Lolytasari, S.Ag., M.Hum., M.Si., was officially opened by the Head of the Library Science Program, Siti Maryam, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum. In her remarks, Siti Maryam emphasized the importance of strengthening academic connections and synergy between universities and professional practitioners.
She also noted that approximately 40 Library Science students are currently undertaking the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) internship program at ANRI. “This is a valuable opportunity that does not come often. Students should carefully absorb the knowledge and valuable experiences shared by the speaker as preparation for their future careers,” she stated.
During the presentation session, Octavia Syafarwati provided a comprehensive explanation of the records life cycle, particularly the transition phase from dynamic records to static records with historical value. She elaborated on the technical stages of processing static records in archival institutions, starting from identification and institutional surveys to the development of finding aids such as archival lists, inventories, and guides.
Furthermore, she shared preservation practices for various types of archival media, including textual records, maps, and photographs. She emphasized the importance of physical preservation standards, such as the use of acid-free materials and specialized archival boxes, as well as the challenges of accurately describing and safeguarding archival information to ensure accessibility for users and researchers.
The guest lecture, which took place from 09:00 to 11:00 WIB, was met with strong enthusiasm from students, particularly during the discussion and Q&A session. The event concluded with the virtual presentation of a certificate of appreciation to the speaker for her academic contribution, followed by a group photo session.
Through this activity, students are expected not only to understand theoretical concepts but also to gain practical insights into national standards of archival management.
