South Tangerang, FAH Online News – on July 14 2025, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has recorded important momentum that is part of history. The proposal to open a Doctoral study program in the History of Islamic Civilization was finally approved by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. Through Decree of the Minister of Religion No. 468 of 2025 concerning Permits to Implement the Islamic Civilization History Study Program for Doctors at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta, it officially marks the establishment of this study program. On this occasion, the Dean of FAH, Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, M.Hum came directly to the Indonesian Ministry of Religion in order to take the decision letter.

The opening of this doctoral study program is an important momentum and part of the long history of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, especially in the field of History of Islamic Civilization. This study program is the first at the doctoral level since this faculty was founded, which will certainly make a major contribution to academic and scientific development in the field of Islamic history, both at the national and international levels.

The process of establishing this program has gone through a long journey, including the visitation stage which took place in February. This success is certainly inseparable from the important role of Prof. Jajat Burhanuddin as Chair of the Team for Submitting the Opening of the Doctoral Study Program, as well as full support from professors and lecturers who are actively involved in the planning and proposal process.

The hope is that in the future, this study program can become a center of excellence in developing the study of Islamic history and civilization, as well as producing graduates who have high academic capacity, scientific integrity and real contributions to society. It is also hoped that the presence of this program will be able to strengthen the position of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities as a leading institution in the study of Islamic humanities sciences in Indonesia. For this reason, after opening this program, we opened registration and invited academics, practitioners and researchers in the field of history to join and continue their studies in the Doctoral Study Program in the History of Islamic Civilization.
