From Alumni to Students: Aby Makruf Foundation Scholarship Supports English Literature Education
South Tangerang, FAH News Online – Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held an Aby Makruf Foundation (AMF) Scholarship Acceptance activity for English Literature Study Program students on Thursday (15/1/2026). This event took place in Prof. Theater Room. Abdul Ghani, 5th floor of FAH, and was attended by the deanery, study program leaders, foundation representatives, and scholarship students.
The activity began with an opening, followed by the reading of verses from the holy Koran by Diah Umi Zaenatun and recitation sari by Anggi Nurul Fauziah, third semester student of the English Literature Study Program class of 2024. The solemn atmosphere colours the series of events which are an important momentum for alumni involvement in supporting student education.
The Chair of the English Literature Study Program, Inayatul Chusna, M.Hum., in his speech expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Aby Makruf Foundation for the support provided. He emphasized that this assistance is not only materially meaningful, but also as a form of trust and moral support from alumni to younger students.
“It is hoped that this assistance can be used as well as possible to support the educational journey until the end. Academic success would not be complete without strong morals and empathy. "We who are studying are actually on Jalan Fii Sabilillah," he said.
The next speech was delivered by the First Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, FAH, Dr. Ida Farida, M.LIS. He expressed his emotion because this activity was the first time alumni had provided scholarships to students within the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. According to him, this program is a clear example of alumni's contribution to the alma mater.
“Students are expected to not only think for themselves, but also bring impact and change to the surrounding environment. "This is the hope of universities, so that their graduates have broad benefits," he said.
Representative of the Aby Makruf Foundation, Ms. Woro Endah Sitoresmi, SS, MBA., explains the background to the founding of AMF in 2021 which was inspired by hadith, ‘the best people are those who are useful to others’. AMF focuses on educational support from kindergarten to college level. On this occasion, he said that the total scholarship assistance distributed to UIN Jakarta English Literature students amounted to IDR 150 million.
The event then continued with an experience sharing session by Aby Makruf, an English Literature alumnus at UIN Jakarta, who told about his life journey which was full of challenges until he was finally able to continue his master's studies and establish a foundation as a form of service. This story is a motivation for scholarship students to continue fighting and not give up on circumstances.
As a representative of the scholarship recipients, Muhammad Atilla Luina Adzikra expressed his gratitude and gratitude to the Aby Makruf Foundation. He emphasized that this assistance is a valuable mandate that will be utilized responsibly and used as motivation in pursuing education.
The series of events closed with the awarding of a charter of appreciation from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities to the Aby Makruf Foundation, the reading of prayers, and the distribution of scholarships to 50 student recipients.
