FAH UIN Jakarta and Negeri Rempah Foundation Sign MoU to Collaborate on Spice Route Research

South Tangerang, 22 July 2025, FAH Online News — Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially collaborated with the Rempah State Foundation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which took place at the FAH campus, Ciputat, on Tuesday (22/7/2025). This collaboration is focused on collaborating research, publications and strengthening academic networks in the field of spice route history.

The signing of the MoU was carried out directly by the Dean of FAH Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., SS, M.Hum. and Chair of the Spice State Foundation, Dewi Komoratih, M.Si. Also present at this activity was Deputy Dean III Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, MA, MA, Ph.D., and Deputy Dean I Dr. Ida Farida, MLIS. Also present was a representative of the Lecturer in the Islamic History and Civilization Study Program, Mrs. Dr. Awalia Rahma MA.  From the foundation, FAH researcher and alumni, Irma Zahrotunnisa, were also present.

This agreement covers seven main areas of collaboration: joint research projects, academic and residency exchanges, conferences and workshops, scientific publications, building cultural human resource capacity, developing community village programs, as well as implementing MBKM, internships and student street vendors under the auspices of the Rempah State Foundation.

"We welcome this collaboration as a form of synergy between the academic world and public history research practitioners. "FAH is committed to preparing every collaboration process carefully," said Dr. Ade in his speech.

Meanwhile, Dewi Komoratih emphasized that this collaboration is a strategic step for the Spice State Foundation in expanding its network and disseminating knowledge of spice history to academics. He also submitted plans to publish a book resulting from spice research which will be released in November 2025.

This meeting also became a momentum for friendship between the FAH academic community and alumni. This cooperation is valid for three years, from March 20 2025 to March 20 2028, and will be supervised through the formation of a joint committee.

FAH and the Spice State Foundation agreed to continue to open up spaces for inclusive collaboration, especially in strengthening public history research, learning innovation, and cross-cultural exchange of ideas under the large framework of the Spice Route theme.
