South Tangerang, FAH Online News – Wednesday, 15 October 2025 Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has again demonstrated its commitment to developing librarian science through active participation in cross-institutional academic activities. One of the lecturers at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Jakarta from the Library Science Study Program, Fahma Rianti, M.Hum., was invited as a resource person in the Guest Lecture organized by the Information, Library and Archives Study Program (IPK) of the Padang State University Vocational School.

This activity, which took place online via the Microsoft Teams platform, raised the theme “Electronic and Digital Information Sources” and was attended by students from the Information, Library and Archives Study Program (IPK) at the Padang State University Vocational School. This lecture is part of the Information Resources and Services course guided by Malta Nelisa, M.Hum.

In the presentation session, Fahma Rianti, M.Hum., discussed in depth the concepts, types and strategic roles of electronic information sources in the modern library ecosystem. He explained that electronic information sources include various formats such as e-journals, e-books, online databases, institutional repositories, audio-visual media, and digital newspapers and magazines.

Furthermore, he stressed that today's libraries must transform from a model of ownership of physical collections into inclusive and innovative digital knowledge access centres. “Modern libraries must be able to move from ownership to access, as well as become centers of technology-based innovation and collaboration,” he said.

This lecture also reviews various electronic information resource platforms commonly used in the academic world, such as JSTOR, DOAJ, ProQuest, EBSCO, Scopus, Web of Science, WorldCat, and Indonesia One Search. The resource person emphasized the importance of digital literacy for librarians and students in order to be able to optimize the utilization of these resources in academic activities and information services.

Apart from discussing opportunities, Fahma Rianti also raised challenges in managing electronic information sources, such as copyright issues, limited technology infrastructure, digital human resource literacy, and funding. It offers solutions such as implementing Electronic Resources Management (ERM), consortium cooperation, and strengthening digital collection policies.

The activity closed with an interactive question and answer session, showing students' enthusiasm in understanding e-resources access mechanisms and digital library management strategies. The participation of lecturers from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in this activity is a concrete manifestation of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's contribution in developing library science and strengthening collaboration between universities. This activity also strengthens the Faculty's position as a strategic partner in building an academic information ecosystem that is relevant to the demands of the digital era.
