Serang (Banten), FAH News Online - In order to strengthen the historical research ecosystem, the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held outreach and promotion activities for the Master's Program (S2) in the History of Islamic Culture and the Doctoral Program (S3) History of Islamic Civilization at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Wednesday (14/01/2026).

The activity, which took place in the Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of the Ushuluddin and Adab Faculty (FUDA) of UIN SMH Banten, aims to strengthen synergy between state Islamic religious universities (PTKIN). This visit is part of the FAH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta friendly reply, following the previous visit from FUDA UIN SMH Banten to FAH UIN Jakarta in December 2025 in the context of exploring cooperation and strengthening academic collaboration.

Dean of FUDA UIN SMH Banten, Dr. Masykur, M.Hum., who positively welcomed the good visit of the FAH UIN Jakarta initiative. He encouraged lecturers and alumni in his environment to take advantage of this golden opportunity to improve their academic qualifications at institutions that have been highly tested for quality.

Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs at FAH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Ida Farida, M.LIS., in her speech hoped that the collaboration of academic practitioners could develop historical narratives with a more comprehensive methodology.

"We are here to invite colleagues at UIN Banten to join the FAH academic ecosystem. "We believe that graduates from Banten will bring a local historical perspective to be developed at national and international levels," said Dr. Ida.

Furthermore, Dr. Ida added that FAH UIN Jakarta has currently opened and developed a Master's Study Program (S2) and Doctoral Study Program (S3) as part of the institution's commitment to strengthening scientific development and research on Islamic history.

On the occasion of the Master of History of Islamic Culture (S2) Study Program and the Head of the Doctoral Study Program in History of Islamic Civilization (S3) Prof. Dr. Jajat Burhanuddin MA emphasized that research through historical studies has an important role in exploring and building solid Islamic historical knowledge based on a strong scientific methodology. According to him, the historical approach used in the SPI FAH Doctoral Program differentiates this study from Islamic Studies belonging to the UIN Jakarta Postgraduate Program.

“SPI FAH's PhD program tries to capture the past more accurately based on solid historical knowledge” Said Prof Jajat

He also added that the FAH UIN Jakarta Islamic Civilization History Doctoral Program is the only Islamic history doctoral program within PTKIN, so it has a strategic position in developing the study of Islamic history and civilization in Indonesia.

As the core of this visit, Chair of the SPI UIN Jakarta Master's & Doctoral Study Program, Prof. Dr. Jajat Burhanuddin, gave an in-depth explanation of the academic excellence offered. He highlighted that the curriculum at FAH is designed to produce historians who are critical and able to answer the challenges of the times. Some of the main points promoted include: research focus, scholarship opportunities, and teacher quality.

"Our program not only produces graduates who memorize historical data, but those who are able to carry out deconstruction and in-depth analysis of the development of Islamic civilization," stressed Prof. Jajat in front of the FUDA UIN SMH Banten academic community.

The discussion forum was dynamic with high enthusiasm from the participants, both students and FAH alumni who live in the Banten area. A variety of questions and responses were submitted, showing great interest in the development of further studies in the field of Islamic history and civilization.

Activities were then followed by interactive question and answer sessions, which further enriched the discussion. Through this outreach activity, it is hoped that sustainable academic collaboration will be built in order to strengthen intellectual capacity and improve the quality of research within PTKIN. The event closed with a friendly session and a group photo as a symbol of strengthening inter-agency friendship.
